Here, too, a banquet had been laid out, ready to begin. The Olympian gods of the true Divine Realm were likewise delighted by the emergence of a new god in the multiverse, so they had been preparing this welcoming ceremony ever since Shane became Pausios.
To the Divine Realm in the Fourth Dimension, it made no difference whether Shane arrived sooner or later. From the moment the divine name Pausios appeared, the new god's arrival had been inevitable.
But someone had arrived a little earlier than Shane.
Darkseid, the lord of Apokolips, whose power had always rivaled the Olympian Realm's, abruptly barged into the banquet the gods had kept ready to begin at any moment.
Facing the astonished gods, Darkseid revealed a savage grin.
"What? Shouldn't I be here for a banquet welcoming a new god?"
Partway through his dimensional ascension, Shane saw everything that had happened in the Realm of the Gods. Space and time were no longer barriers to observation. As long as he had enough Mental Power, he could even view scenes from tens of thousands of years ago if he wished.
Naturally, Darkseid could not have invaded Olympus so easily on his own. In fact, most factions in the Realm of the Gods were fairly evenly matched.
He had pulled off this surprise attack because he had gained an ally Shane had overlooked. Shane had grown powerful enough in three dimensions to threaten Apokolips into staying out of reality, while also sealing the breach through which the Dark Multiverse invaded the normal multiverse.
As a result, darkness had joined forces in the Realm of the Gods with Darkseid, who already bore the title of Dark Lord.
