Mosen had always felt that the term Paramecia Devil Fruit was not quite accurate.
Rather than calling them Paramecia, it would be more appropriate to call them Superpower-type fruits.
This book shared a view similar to Mosen's. Its introduction to Paramecia Devil Fruits began with the following sentence: "Paramecia fruits are, in essence, the means of gaining a special superpower."
Their specific effects were determined by the devils contained within the Devil Fruits. After a Devil Fruit user ate a fruit, the devil inside it would transfer into the user's Lineage Factor, granting them a unique Devil Fruit Ability.
Based on their abilities, the book divided Paramecia Devil Fruits into four types: Enhancement, Creation, Absorption, and Rule.
As the name suggested, Enhancement-type users possessed some special function that directly affected their own bodies. They could activate it without a medium, but it only worked on themselves and could not affect external objects.
Examples included Luffy's Rubber-Rubber Fruit, Mr. 1's Slice-Slice Fruit, Diamond Jozu's Gleam-Gleam Fruit, and Katakuri's Mochi-Mochi Fruit.
The second type, Creation, was different from Enhancement-type fruits. Their users didn't gain superhuman bodies after eating their fruits. Physically, they were no different from ordinary people, but they could create a certain substance and control it perfectly.
Examples included Nico Robin's Flower-Flower Fruit, Mr. 3's Candle-Candle Fruit, Magellan's Venom-Venom Fruit, Doflamingo's Thread-Thread Fruit, and Whitebeard's Tremor-Tremor Fruit.
The third type, Absorption, differed from the first two. Enhancement- and Creation-type users relied more on themselves, while Absorption-type users did the opposite: their Devil Fruit Abilities usually let them absorb things from the outside world into their bodies and make them their own.
Examples included Walpo's Munch-Munch Fruit, Charlotte Smoothie's Juice-Juice Fruit, Urouge's Hate-Hate Fruit, and Big Mom's Soul-Soul Fruit.
(ps: Urouge's fruit has never been given an official name. His ability makes him stronger the more he gets hit, like a damage-stacking power designed to draw attacks and provoke enemies. So, for now, I've decided to call it the Hate-Hate Fruit.)
The fourth type, Rule, was completely different from the first three. Rule-type users generally activated their abilities through touch or other conditions, using them to affect and transform things.
Examples included Sugar's Hobby-Hobby Fruit, Bonney's Age-Age Fruit, Golden Lion's Float-Float Fruit, and Fujitora's Press-Press Fruit.
Of the four Paramecia categories, Rule-type fruits were undoubtedly the most broken.
Even the Emperors would probably find this type of fruit troublesome.
Take Sugar, for example. As long as she touched you, whether you were an Emperor or a Marine Admiral, you would be turned into a toy.
That showed just how terrifying Rule-type Paramecia fruits could be. It was also one of the reasons Mosen was so intent on acquiring Golden Lion's Lineage Factor.
Based on the timeline, Golden Lion's escape should happen sometime this year. So, according to Mosen's plans, he probably wouldn't leave Impel Down before Golden Lion broke out.
For the time being, Mosen planned to train hard with Mia and the others in Extreme Cold Hell, learning Haki and swordsmanship so he could quickly improve his strength and deal with Golden Lion's escape.
The first thing Mosen did after returning to Impel Down was report back to Magellan.
Magellan briefly asked Mosen about the past month. After confirming there were no major issues, he told him to get back to work.
Mosen promptly agreed, picked up a month's worth of food from the warehouse, and returned to Extreme Cold Hell.
After a month away, stepping into Extreme Cold Hell again made Mosen feel as if he'd come home.
The moment he entered, he could feel every cell in his body cheering. They greedily absorbed the frigid air of Extreme Cold Hell.
If any prisoners came near Mosen, they would clearly sense that the temperature around him was lower than elsewhere in Extreme Cold Hell.
The cold air Mosen unconsciously released could easily freeze a prisoner into an ice statue.
After a while, Mosen slowly opened his eyes and realized that he had gained even greater control over his Frozen Lineage Factor.
This "unexpected bonus" put Mosen in an even better mood. Humming a little tune, he headed toward the hut.
But he hadn't gone far before a female prisoner blocked his way.
She looked to be in her thirties and had the average build of someone from the One Piece world. The Seastone Handcuffs around her wrists made it obvious she was a Devil Fruit user.
"Can I help you, miss?"
"L-leave... leave your food here!" the shivering woman stammered.
"You want food? Then tell me what you did before you were arrested."
"Cut the c-chatter! Hand over the food!" The female prisoner charged at Mosen without hesitation.
Mosen sighed and controlled the surrounding ice and snow, gathering them into spears behind him and sending them flying toward her.
She barely glanced at the spears, dodging them with ease. In the blink of an eye, she was in front of him, raising a fist to slam into his chest.
Mosen didn't dodge. He defended himself with Armament Haki and Iron Body: Hollow Wood.
"Crack!" A sharp snap rang out, and the powerful rebound twisted the woman's fist out of shape.
The pain made cold sweat bead on her forehead. A gust of wind swept through Extreme Cold Hell, and the sweat instantly froze into a thin layer of frost.
The woman realized Mosen was no easy target. She pulled back her fist and turned to run.
But Mosen had no intention of letting her go. She was clearly a newcomer who hadn't witnessed how he'd made an example of someone before, which was why she'd dared to attack him.
And she wasn't the only one. There were plenty of unfamiliar faces around, probably prisoners brought in while Mosen was away.
To stop these prisoners from causing him trouble, Mosen decided to teach the newcomers a lesson and show them that he was no pushover, even as a prison guard.
"Shave!"
Mosen vanished from where he stood and appeared in front of the fleeing woman the next second.
"Freeze." At Mosen's soft murmur, the woman instantly lost all feeling in her legs.
"Y-you can control ice and snow? Are you a Logia Snow-Snow Fruit user?" the woman asked in horror, staring at her frozen legs.
Mosen didn't answer. Instead, he called out to the prisoners around him, "Anyone who dares lay a hand on me from now on will end up just like her."
With that, Mosen snapped his fingers. The ice around the woman's legs rapidly spread upward, and in the blink of an eye, she was frozen into an ice statue.
This time, Mosen didn't smash the statue. He thought leaving it there would be a much better way to intimidate the others than breaking it apart.
The Golden Lion escape storyline is coming up soon. As for Golden Lion, I personally don't think he's an irredeemable, purely evil man. He was influenced more by Rocks, to the point that his thoughts and methods came to resemble Rocks's. So this story will make some changes to Golden Lion's fate. Stay tuned.
