Background

Mosen was born on Sphinx, a chaotic Grand Line island. At age two, he and his parents fled to the Sabaody Archipelago. When he was nine, Celestial Dragons had his parents killed and attempted to enslave him; Monkey D. Dragon rescued him and brought him to Water 7. 1

He entered the Navy and trained for five years under a branch Vice Admiral associated with Zephyr. Though recommended for Marine Headquarters and Zephyr’s training camp, Mosen instead volunteered for Vegapunk’s Lineage Factor experiment in pursuit of power. He received the Frozen Lineage Factor, survived when the other members of his group froze to death, and used Life Return to force his body to adapt. 1

The experiment replaced his heart with a Mechanized Heart, leaving him malnourished and physically weakened. The Navy assigned him as a jailer in Impel Down’s Fifth Layer, Extreme Cold Hell, because of his cold immunity. 2

Dragon later accepted Mosen into his still-forming Revolutionary Army, but instructed him to remain in the Navy. Mosen consequently operated as an undercover agent while pursuing revenge against the Celestial Dragons and a broader goal of changing the world. 2

Personality

Mosen is driven by his parents’ murder and holds deep hatred toward the Celestial Dragons. His Conqueror’s Haki reflects his determination to overturn the existing world order. 140

Despite his hostility toward oppression, he consistently protects civilians and allies. He saved a merchant ship from a Celestial Dragon’s retaliation, accepted responsibility to shield the merchants, intervened against pirates attacking a small island, and refused the islanders’ reward. 119 116

He is strategic, secretive, and politically adaptable. Mosen maintains separate identities as Marine officer Mosen and Revolutionary Army combatant Jarvis, manipulates perceptions of his allegiance, and uses his Navy position to advance Revolutionary Army objectives. 144 228
