Demonic Beasts Attack

His gaze fixed on the foot of the mountain ahead, where more than a dozen dark figures were crawling out of the forest. Several of the taller silhouettes carried a wooden palanquin on their shoulders, positioned in the middle of the group.

Under the moonlight, he could see a crow half a man's height lying on the wooden palanquin. Only now did Su Ye make out the other dark figures clearly.

There were Wolf Demons, Bear Demons, and Dog Demons. His grip tightened around the Ghost Head Saber.

As the Demonic Beasts drew closer, the group halted slightly when they were only twenty or thirty paces from the town. A thin Dog Demon spoke.

"Black Commander, my son came here last night and never returned. He must have met with misfortune. Tonight, I have to kill to my heart's content and avenge my son. Otherwise, I'll never be able to swallow this hatred."

Another fat Pig Demon carrying the palanquin spoke with equal fury. "The same happened to my son. This time, we must bring back more blood food."

The one called Black Commander was a crow. Its right claw rubbed against the palanquin's armrest, and as its beak opened and closed, a voice came out. "This time is different."

Hearing this, the Demonic Beasts walking along felt a wave of irritation rise in their hearts. Whenever they went out on missions before, they were always ordered not to make too much commotion.

They had thought that, with everyone mobilized this time, they could kill as they pleased. Now, hearing the meaning behind Black Commander's words, they feared things would still be the same as usual.

A Wolf Demon chimed in, "Those two-legged sheep have been swaggering around right under our noses all day. I've disliked them for a long time."

"Right. Why are we keeping any alive?"

Hearing this, Su Ye's gaze suddenly turned cold. These Demonic Beasts had actually come to exterminate Kaoshan Town. From their words, it seemed they planned to go to other towns as well.

Seeing the massive blade coming at it, Black Commander cried out and rolled to one side.

With a wet splurt, Black Commander avoided the fatal blow, but half of its wing was sliced open at an angle by the Ghost Head Saber. The wound was smooth and even. Only after the blade withdrew did red liquid spray from the severed edge.

Although the strike had not killed Black Commander, it had crippled its ability to fly. It was still worth it. Su Ye hurriedly pursued, only to hear a ferocious whoosh coming from behind him.

He twisted his body, bringing the Ghost Head Saber up in front of him. With a clang of colliding metal, he blocked a massive wolf-toothed club. At the same time, his left leg swept out, kicking the attacking Bear Demon dozens of meters away.

His movements did not stop. The Ghost Head Saber swept out in an instant, its gleam slicing through the night air and raising wave after wave of mournful whines.

Fresh blood sprayed. The weapons in the hands of the Demonic Beasts closing in all snapped in unison. Some were even cut in half at the waist, crashing heavily onto the dry earth.

Su Ye stamped hard on the ground and lunged toward the other creatures, who were waiting in battle formation.

On the way, the Ghost Head Saber changed direction. He struck with its back, driving it straight into the chest of an attacking Wolf Demon. In midair, the burly body exploded with a string of popping sounds like firecrackers, then flew far away and lay motionless.

"This kid isn't simple. Spread out and attack him together. We can definitely kill him!"

Black Commander had lost one wing and looked like a chicken that could only run on the ground. Retreating while issuing orders, it said, "From what I can tell, this kid is only at Body Tempering Layer Seven. We can wear him down to death."

Facing more than a dozen savage attacks, the muscles throughout Su Ye's body swelled, solid and dense as forged iron. His palm rubbed against the saber's shaft, sending out a shower of sparks.

"Come on!"

With his current physical strength, enduring a dozen attacks from these Demonic Beasts would not be a problem.

Wherever he passed, screams rang out one after another. Severed limbs, flesh, and organs were flung everywhere, and the corpses on the ground piled higher and higher. The pitch-black earth was slowly stained by the blood flowing across it.

The huge blade dragged along the ground, yet not a trace of blood stained it. With a lift of his eyes, the Ghost Head Saber flew from his hand.

Like an arrow, it plunged straight into the chest of a Tiger Demon fleeing in panic a hundred meters away. Carrying unstoppable force, it sent the Tiger Demon's body flying more than ten meters.

Without waiting for a response, Su Ye hurried away, following the claw marks on the ground.
