Background / History

The body Su Ye inhabits belonged to an orphaned Linshan County constable raised by an old beggar. Before dying, the beggar gave the original Su Ye a palm-sized wooden knife and told him to seek the Taihang Mountains if he ever had nowhere else to go. In Su Ye’s previous life, he was struck by a runaway truck while commuting to work. 1

After transmigrating into the mortally wounded constable’s body in a forest outside Qinghe Town, Su Ye discovers that Wang Jin, his fellow investigator, has been killed by a Wolf Demon. The Martial Dao Assistance System activates in response to the demon’s aura, granting him Assistance Points and recording the Mountain Splitting Saber Technique. He perfects the technique, heals his wound, and kills the Wolf Demon before returning to Linshan County with Wang Jin’s body. 1

County Lieutenant Zhou Tao promotes Su Ye and dispatches him to guard Kaoshan Town. There, Su Ye becomes involved in the abuses committed by runner Huang Qianqing, whose extortion and abduction of local women have terrorized the town. Su Ye kills Huang’s runners, defeats him, and later executes both Huang Qianqing and his bald companion after their return. 2 5 14

Appearance

Su Ye is a handsome young man who becomes noticeably taller and more physically imposing as his body cultivation progresses. His physique develops dense musculature, golden-tinged blood, and dragon-like patterns within his bones after cultivating high-grade body-tempering arts. 19 13 42

Personality

Su Ye is pragmatic, highly adaptive, and intensely focused on accumulating strength. He immediately conceals the truth of his transmigration and system after returning from Qinghe Town, recognizing that revealing either would create danger. 1 2

He is willing to intervene for people harmed by corrupt officials, as shown by his protection of Meng Daniu and Kaoshan Town’s residents. He also distributes food to beggar children in Linshan County. 4 24 However, Su Ye is extremely ruthless toward those he considers threats or irredeemably cruel: he executes Qin Hao after accepting his saber, kills Huang Qianqing’s faction, and orders the destruction of Blood Lotus Cult shrines while executing those who resist. 9 14 36

Su Ye avoids binding himself to powerful families and deliberately hides his full cultivation, preferring independence and strategic advantage over public recognition. 39 40 43
