Background / History
The Tianjian Sect had endured for more than 170,000 years before its destruction in an early simulation. Its Seventh-Generation Ancestor was the sect's only recorded Void Returning King and once left the Seven Islands Alliance region to travel to Xuqing Continent. 21 39
At its height, the sect unified Qixia Island. The Seventh-Generation Ancestor later deliberately contracted its territory and released Spirit Transmutation inheritances to establish or support other powers, including the Little Zen Temple and Wuliang Sect. This policy was intended to preserve competition and prevent the sect from becoming internally stagnant. 53
By Su Yang's era, the Tianjian Sect was Qixia Island's hegemonic force, with influence comparable to dozens of Chuyun Kingdoms. Its name alone could compel local forces to submit; a Golden Core cultivator who killed a Tianjian Token holder was reportedly executed alongside his entire family. 7
Destruction and reconstruction
The Pillar Reaching Heaven descended on Tianjian Island and could erase the sect so completely that no ruins remained above Qijian Lake—only open water. In that timeline, the Heavenly Sword Record and the sect's spiritual treasures were left shattered at the lakebed. 21
Later simulations produced different outcomes through Su Yang's foreknowledge:
| Simulation outcome | Result |
|---|---|
| Six Venerables saved | Su Yang lured six Deity Transformation Venerables away before the Pillar's descent. They later recovered wreckage, restored Tianjian Island's spirit veins to fifth-tier, and began rebuilding the sect. 28 29 |
| Full evacuation | Su Yang convinced the leadership to relocate the sect to the Central Plains before the disaster. The Pillar destroyed the abandoned Tianjian Island, while the sect's personnel, formations, peaks, and spirit veins survived. 39 40 |
| Return to Qijian Lake | After a new Tianjian Island appeared at the original site, the sect moved back to Qijian Lake. 40 |
| Later relocations | The sect later relocated to Fengshen Island, then Seven Star Island, and was eventually moved into Crimson Cloud Heaven alongside the Cang Clan for protection. 112 182 237 258 |
Organization
Major peaks
The sect's four major peaks are qualified to recruit True Disciples. Smaller peaks may take personal disciples, but those disciples do not receive True Disciple status. 8
| Peak | Known role or feature |
|---|---|
| Tianjian Peak | Main peak of the Tianjian Sect. 8 |
| Earth Sword Peak | One of the four major peaks; Zhou Mingdao was a True Disciple of this peak. 8 9 |
| Sun Sword Peak | Su Yang's assigned peak in several simulations; its summit bears a great sun manifested by a Spirit Transmutation Ancestor. 8 |
| Moon Sword Peak | Venerable Moon Sword's faction and origin peak. 13 |
Beyond the four major peaks, the sect has twelve smaller peaks and 112 outer sect mountain peaks. The masters of the outer peaks are Golden Core cultivators, and their disciples do not qualify as inner disciples. 8
Disciple ranks
- Outer Disciples — Lowest documented rank; many are attached to the outer peaks. 8 16
- Inner Disciples — Standard intermediate rank within the sect. 16
- True Disciples — Direct-lineage disciples of the major peaks. Their tokens carry the sect's authority and profound sword intent. 7 8
- Sword Children — The sect's highest honor for disciples. A Sword Child is expected to have a strong chance of reaching Nascent Soul and the potential to become a Spirit Transmutation Venerable. 9
Sword Child qualification
| Path | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Heavenly Sword Path | Maintain cultivation speed equal to or greater than other True Disciples, possess exceptional combat power, and clear the Heavenly Sword Path at the appropriate realm. 9 |
| Cultivation achievement | Reach Perfect Foundation Establishment before age 20 or form a first-grade Golden Core before age 50. 12 |
A Sword Child's emergence causes the Heavenly Sword Record to tremble—an event otherwise associated with the death of a Spirit Transmutation expert or a change of Sect Master. 13
True Disciple trials
A True Disciple who reaches Foundation Establishment must leave the sect within one year and spend five years traveling while completing sect missions. The requirement exists to prevent disciples from becoming sheltered cultivators unfamiliar with life, death, and combat. 9
Assets & Infrastructure
Heavenly Sword Record
The Heavenly Sword Record is the Tianjian Sect's supreme treasure and holds the highest enshrined position in its Ancestral Hall. It is a natural spiritual treasure born from Qijian Lake. 11
- Detects sword-cultivation geniuses across Qixia Island. 11
- Records the names of peak masters, ancestors, elders, and True Disciples. 11
- Can carry four divine swords and manifest the Heavenly Sword Great Array. 11
- The array cannot be broken by four cultivators of the same realm. 11
- Can recognize a disciple's Sword Child qualification and alter a True Disciple Token into a Sword Child Token automatically. 12
- Was damaged during the Pillar Reaching Heaven disaster but recovered during the sect's reconstruction. 28
Sword Tomb
The Sword Tomb houses high-grade swords and spiritual treasures. Su Yang obtained the fifth-tier top-grade Heaven and Earth Profound Origin Sword there, a weapon regarded as one of the Tianjian Sect's five greatest treasures. 37
Heavenly Sword Path
The Heavenly Sword Path is a realm-specific trial used to assess combat capability and award Sect Contribution. Clearing it is one route to Sword Child status. 9 37
- The final Foundation Establishment trial possesses combat power outstanding even among Golden Core cultivators. 37
- Su Yang later cleared both the Foundation Establishment and Golden Core versions of the trial. 38 41
- Successful challengers receive substantial Sect Contribution. 38 60
Cultivation grounds
- Sun Sword Peak's great sun — A Spiritual Power left by a Spirit Transmutation Ancestor. It accelerates the cultivation of fire-attribute spiritual roots and physiques, with stronger effects closer to the summit. 8
- Other major-peak sacred grounds — Each of the other three major peaks possesses corresponding treasures or cultivation sites, forming part of the sect's foundation. 8
- Private secret realms — The sect can assign secluded cultivation domains to exceptional disciples. 128
- Crimson Cloud Heaven — Later made available to Tianjian Sect and Cang Clan members as a cultivation and training ground. 204
Sword Child resources
Sword Children receive exceptional treatment, including:
- 30 mid-grade Spirit Stones each month. 20
- Three bottles of top-grade Tier 2 Yuanyang Pills each month. 20
- One top-grade Tier 3 True Yang Flower each year, which can shift a cultivator's physique toward a Yang attribute. 20
- Access to the Sword Tomb, cultivation secret realms, sect manuals, divine abilities, and Sect Contribution rewards in later simulations. 37 40
Reputation and Influence
The Tianjian Sect's reputation was powerful enough that local cultivators recognized its True Disciple Tokens even when they had never encountered a sect member personally. The token's sword intent and the inscription “Tianjian” were sufficient to make Qingye Market's enforcement team kneel and seek forgiveness. 7
Its former strength also generated lasting hostility. The sect had occupied extensive Qixia Island resources and defeated the Black Demon Sect's two Demon Venerables as well as the Seven-Colored Cloud Mountain Range's eight Demon Venerables. After the sect's destruction, these forces opposed its re-establishment. 22
Under Su Yang's later protection, Tianjian Sect disciples gained enough prestige that they could travel throughout the Eastern Archipelago with confidence, and even members of supreme powers treated them as equals. 203
Relationships
- Su Yang — True Disciple, Sword Child, later Supreme Elder/Grand Elder. His warnings repeatedly preserved the sect from the Pillar Reaching Heaven, and his later strength elevated its standing. 12 39 165 203
- Venerable Moon Sword / King Moon Sword — Sect Master and former Sword Child. She leads reconstruction efforts, rewards Su Yang for saving the sect, and later recognizes him as an equal. 13 40 53 165
- Venerable Blazing Sun — Leading Sun Sword Peak expert and Su Yang's master in several simulations. He was regarded as the sect's top Deity Transformation expert more than 2,000 years before Su Yang's arrival. 37
- True Monarch Mingyang — Sun Sword Peak's peak master; survives the sect's destruction in one simulation and participates in efforts to rebuild it. 13 21 28
- Gu Changfeng — Third Elder of Sun Sword Peak and Su Yang's early mentor. He survives the disaster in one timeline and remains connected to the sect's restoration. 8 21 28
- Wuliang Sect — A force partly established through the Tianjian Sect's historical policy of preserving regional competition; it later shelters Mingyang and Gu Changfeng after the sect's destruction in one simulation. 22 53
- Black Demon Sect — Historical rival whose continued existence was tolerated to maintain pressure and competition within the Tianjian Sect. 53
- Cang Clan — Later allied closely with the Tianjian Sect; both factions receive upgraded spirit veins and are moved into Crimson Cloud Heaven for protection. 182 204 258
