With a casual flick of his hand, he threw the bandit out of the carriage. The man landed sprawled on all fours, stumbling and carving a third furrow into the road behind the carriage—beside the wheel tracks and Lianye's footprints...

Monsters Can Be Used to Scare People
The driver at the front of the carriage pulled on the reins and turned around in a panic. With the enormous commotion and the cries of the bandits behind them, even without seeing it, he knew an unknown enemy had appeared.
—Calling them an unknown enemy was not entirely accurate. The bandit group had hijacked the Training Corps' ODM Gear not long ago. Anyone could guess this was retaliation from the other side.
"Enemy attack—!"
The driver of the last carriage shouted loudly, warning the people in the other carriages to prepare themselves.
But would that—really help?
Even though he emerged from the forced stealth of Hunting Rhythm, the bandits still could not catch sight of Lianye. Their vision obscured, the Pride Stalker launched one pounce after another.
Void Predator—the Ultimate Hunter's powerful pounce—was limited in the game to ambushes launched from brush. Of course, that was merely a balancing restriction in Summoner's Rift. In the real world, as long as the hunter's shadow had not been seen by its prey, it was the right moment to strike. Even against these ordinary bandits, the outcome would have been the same even if their eyes could keep up with Lianye's movements.
"Urgh—!" "Ngh—!" "Aah—!"
After several consecutive leaps, every bandit, including the driver of the last carriage and those in the second-to-last carriage, fell. The last thing they saw before dying was a black shadow descending from above and a hunting blade. They would not even know how they had died.
The bandit guarding Krista in the second carriage immediately gripped his hunting rifle tightly and aimed behind him. Just as the two carriages at the rear were destroyed, he pulled the trigger.
Although the bandit's hands trembled so badly that aiming should have been a problem, the result was unexpectedly good. The bullet happened to pierce through the second-to-last carriage and struck Lianye in the shoulder blade. Blood immediately gushed out, making for a rather frightening sight.
Though an old-fashioned flintlock rifle fired slowly, its large-caliber bullets packed quite a punch. The impact of the direct hit knocked Lianye backward. However, his feet remained planted on the carriage like nails, and he quickly steadied himself.
Before the bandit could let out a triumphant cheer, that was all the counterattack amounted to. The wound on Lianye's shoulder blade healed at a visible speed. Had he not seen it with his own eyes, and had the slightly torn shoulder of Lianye's Training Corps uniform not proven that the shot had indeed landed, no one would have been able to tell that Lianye had ever been injured.
"Hmm... Looks like I need to prepare a set of hunting beast armor like Rengar's?"
Lianye thought at a rather inappropriate moment. Using the Hero Ability of the Pride Stalker did not mean he had to completely become like Renekton.
After all, Lianye preferred a more human appearance and build, whereas Rengar looked like a traditional beastman—the ultimate creature. Because of that difference, the weapons suited for the Pride Stalker Hero Ability had changed from beast-suited steel forks into the Dagger and broadsword in Lianye's hands—more like the weapon set from the Night Hunter skin than the Pride Stalker's original skin.
Besides that, Renekton's burly body was covered in full armor, including vicious beast armor around every joint. That clearly better suited the hunter identity of the Pride Stalker. Lianye, on the other hand, wore no armor. Naturally, he was dressed in the Training Corps soldier's uniform—lightweight enough, but naturally lacking in defense.
"M-Monster!" the bandit said tremblingly, unable even to hold his hunting rifle steady.
—It was probably much like how most people felt when facing the terror of Titans. Because they were monsters beyond human power, even with weapons in hand, people lacked the courage to fight back.
The greatest courage and resolve these bandits possessed was the ruthlessness to point their hunting rifles at fellow humans. Yet before monsters vastly stronger than themselves, they were utterly helpless. They dared not fight Titans, but instead mocked the soldiers who fought them, even using firearms against them.
People like this, who bullied the weak and feared death... did not deserve to be called human.
Lianye stretched his limbs, jumped across the nearly ten-meter gap between the carriages, and ended that bandit with a single slash. Just like those in the wrecked carriages ahead, it was clean and decisive.
He glanced at Krista, who was equally stunned. Under the beautiful moonlight, her exquisite, model-worthy features were somewhat blank.
But that was only natural.
Lianye could have chosen a gentler way to defeat the bandit group and rescue Krista—stealthy infiltration, assassination, and so on. He probably could have saved her that way too, and the process would not have seemed so brutal and merciless.
But Lianye felt that since Krista was the one waiting to be rescued, there was nothing for her to choose. She only needed to shut up and watch how he did it.
