Shell casings rained onto the floor, while dense muzzle flashes seemed to merge into a flood of death.
Bullets tore through the air and plunged into the thick dust, leaving clear holes. Then the soldiers heard violent metal-on-metal impacts, and visible sparks burst deep within the haze.
Yet even such fierce gunfire failed to stop those heavy footsteps from continuing toward them.
