Only after returning to the camp the Dark Angels had built deep in the canyon did Alvin finally let out a sigh of relief. He sank into a cold chair and massaged the spot between his brows, where a needlelike pain came and went.
"Your Highness, would you like to rest first?" The guard following behind him noticed something was wrong and asked with concern.
He had also taken part in the rescue campaign at the Demon Forge Palace and had witnessed the moment Alvin was possessed by the Emperor's will. Later, he had even rescued the Dark Angels' successor Chapters several times when they were surrounded by Chaos.
It was fair to say that Alvin's importance now surpassed that of the entire Dark Angels Legion!
That was exactly why he was so concerned.
If anything happened to Alvin, even if the Supreme Grand Master didn't punish him, he would be too ashamed to face the Emperor after his death!
"Now isn't the time to rest." Alvin rejected the guard's suggestion and asked instead, "How are things with the Supreme Grand Master?"
"As you instructed, the Supreme Grand Master has summoned the Chapter Masters of every successor Chapter we can currently contact," the guard replied gravely. "The council can begin at any time."
"Good."
Alvin nodded. After a brief rest, he got to his feet again, a glint of resolve in his eyes. "The next part is the hardest."
Soon, Alvin arrived at the temporary Dark Angels command room, a vast chamber carved into the mountainside.
Many people had already gathered in the huge, empty stone chamber.
They were all Chapter Masters from the Dark Angels' successor Chapters. Alvin gave them a cursory glance. Among them were the Absolution Angels, Struggle Angels, Redemption Angels, Vengeance Angels, Vigil Angels, Blade of
