Background / History
Jia Ruo first appears in a treatment room as a gifted healer with restorative techniques. After observing Jia Meng and Wu Siwu’s battle, she assesses both combatants and chooses to treat Jia Meng first because his repeated use of Crimson Blood Burst—Crimson Blood Strike appears to have depleted him. Her technique detects no injury in either patient, however, and she declines the Jia Meng family elders’ offered reward because she believes she has done nothing substantial. 5
She later becomes a feared figure among the capital’s elites. Despite her harmless-looking appearance, she and her three companions crush the elites’ resistance, exploiting pressure points Jia Ruo understands particularly well. Afterward, she checks on Princess Dian and Prince Han and offers to treat their injuries. 17
One report states that the Heavenly Dao Master kills Jia Ruo, but later events show Jia Ruo alive: she reunites with Tian Yuan, Jia Meng, Shi Shiran, and Seven Seas, expressing relief at the group’s growth over the preceding year. 23 28
Appearance
Jia Ruo is initially described as a young woman with soft black hair falling to her shoulders and large, watery, intelligent eyes. 5 During a later mission, she wears a high-necked uniform and appears tired. 22

- Large, watery eyes noted for their intelligence 5
- Later described with golden eyes 31
- Wears a high-necked uniform during the Five-Spirit Bewilderment incident 22
Personality
Jia Ruo is conscientious and modest in her healing work. She prioritizes the patient she considers most at risk, yet refuses a reward when her treatment proves unnecessary. 5
She can also be provocative and self-assured, deliberately challenging Xia Bu to a sparring match and taking pride in having irritated him. Even so, her actions consistently turn toward protecting others, from offering treatment after battles to shielding vulnerable people during the abyss incident. 17 59 60
Her long-term goal is ambitious and humanitarian: rather than merely managing the curse, she seeks a way to eliminate it from all humanity. She recognizes that teaching universal curse control would require public knowledge, political change, and solutions for widely varying talent. 31
