"Finally got all the Shadowcap Mushrooms processed. This should be enough, right?"
Night Wind and Nightingale set two wooden buckets in the middle of camp. They were filled with thick black liquid that looked like muddy sludge. Thankfully, it gave off a faint herbal scent, so it was not too unpleasant.
But perhaps it was their scouts' instincts that made the siblings raise their brows at the same time and look between the other two.
"Did something happen just now?"
"No."
Nothing really had happened. A few minutes would hardly have been enough time for anything to happen.
"Then why does she keep turning her back on you?"
Tang followed Night Wind's pointing finger and glanced at Shalti. Perhaps wiping away her tears earlier had been too abrupt. The elf lady had turned her back to him.
He could not see her expression, but she was probably wearing a blank look. She always kept her thoughts to herself.
And that was exactly what had happened.
Shalti had thought of a great many things in those few short minutes.
From Tang's fingertip at the corner of her eye, to Black Snake doing the same thing to that woman at the brothel, to what had happened between Black Snake and the woman, to the mating animals she had seen while hunting with Markwen, to the grand harmony of life and nature, to the vast starry sky, and then to home... Her memories were so immense that a tiny gesture could send her mind wandering until it reached the boundless depths of thought.
From the outside, all of that looked like simple daydreaming.

When Shalti gave no answer, Night Wind did not press her. He took a bite of Spore Bread and asked, "We're close to Lightless City now. If we're setting
