"You've already come all this way. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"

A figure slowly approached through the darkness.

The newcomer wore armor. Apart from his face, his entire body was covered in iron plates forged from refined steel.

He looked like a heavy iron man!

The armor weighed at least dozens of pounds. With his own body weight, he must have weighed two or three hundred pounds.

Yet he strode toward them as effortlessly as an ordinary person, even seeming more agile.

He looked at Karl and nodded, his voice tinged with approval.

"Your life force is abundant, and you've reached the limit for an Advanced Knight. No wonder you want a Life Potion. At least this batch of newcomers is worth something."

"Captain Barnard!" Xiao Nan recognized him and hurriedly said, "We're here to exchange supplies. What are you doing?"

"Whack!"

Before he could finish, a whip lashed out of the darkness and knocked him to the ground.

A soldier put away his whip and sneered.

"Did I say you could talk?"

Karl's expression darkened as his gaze swept quickly across the scene.

There were thirteen soldiers, most wearing half-armor. Anyone serving in the City Guard would be at least as strong as a Knight Squire.

Four black hounds.

They were a type of beast raised by the City Guard.

As big as leopards, they had hair as hard as needles. They were astonishingly strong and fast, with vicious temperaments. Several of them could surround an Official Knight.

Captain Barnard.

He was a knight, and had been an Official Knight for many years.

Surrounded by so many armed men without warning, even he was powerless to resist. His eyelid twitched uncontrollably.
