Encirclement
A torrential rain lashed the mountain, yet not a single drop fell at its foot. Perhaps a couple did, but they likely evaporated in the dry air as they fell.
The cheers from the mountaintop made the archaeologists collecting clues look up despite themselves. They immediately stared in surprise.
In broad daylight, a rain cloud hung over the mountaintop, shedding a fine drizzle.
A little while earlier, they had heard the Rain Summoning Rockets launch and explode, but the archaeologists hadn't even felt like looking up.
Those "primitives" had already found firing AKs into the sky insufficiently thrilling, and now they were using rockets, too. With all those bizarre noises, it was no different from a wild party full of demons dancing in a frenzy.
In fact, that was exactly what it looked like. The dark-skinned aunties, sisters, uncles, and old men, all waving their arms and shouting, looked just like Monsters and Ghosts from who knew where.
No wonder those Americans had paid the "admission fee" but couldn't be bothered to take another look. It really was an eyesore.
They only wanted to use these native Africans to investigate the clues surrounding the "monsters" that had been appearing so frequently of late, hoping to find valuable information in the traditional tribal rituals.
These tribespeople might have been quite uncivilized, but their traditional cultures still preserved plenty of interesting things.
After searching high and low, Professor Lance and Elisa hadn't expected to make a discovery on their very first day there. They were too busy to pay any attention to the revelry on the mountaintop. Only now did they notice, to their great surprise, that the hill was being engulfed by a torrential downpour.
"Those barbarian Wizards really can summon rain?"
The look of disbelief on Elisa's face lingered.
