"What...what is that?"
Zhao Ziwu hurried forward a few steps, his eyes widening as he drew in a sharp breath.
Thank goodness Li Bai had spotted the danger ahead in time.
"S-so many snakes!"
Lin Xiaoya huddled behind him. One glance was enough to raise goosebumps all over her and send a chill through her.
What lay ahead wasn't ordinary woodland at all. It was a vast swamp.
Aquatic plants covered the water, making it look like a patch of grass. Not an inch of open water could be seen. Trees grew in the water, their roots sprouting in all directions, long and short, thick and thin. Unless someone ventured inside or Glazed Heart spread over the area right away, even from nearby, it would be hard to tell anything was amiss in this stretch of forest.
That wasn't even the worst of it. Things were churning in the water, enough to make anyone's skin crawl: scales of every color, long, slick bodies, and far too many of them.
If anyone accidentally stepped in there...the consequences would be unthinkable.
Standing almost at the water's edge, Li Bai took a few looks at the creatures revealed after the waterspout created by his wind talisman swept away a large swath of aquatic plants. He couldn't help asking, "Is this a snake pit? They're pretty big—and thick, too!"
After seeing the snake pit in Congo, on the African Continent, all these huge snakes tangled together in a mass were nothing more than a minor spectacle.
The snakes in that African pit were generally smaller, but there were enough of them to unleash a terrifying flood of snakes.
