Saint Expansion
The tent fell utterly silent.
"This is the Sun, a devastating weapon used only as a last resort."
Whenever Enmenam mentioned the "Sun," a hint of apprehension unconsciously crept into his tone.
It seemed that this weapon posed a serious threat even to him.
True to his straightforward nature as the Saint of "Strength," Heracles blurted out,
"Th-this is a nuclear weapon, isn't it?"
The other six Saints exchanged glances. The flash of a nuclear explosion and the mushroom cloud could completely be matched with the characteristics of the "Sun" Enmenam had described.
Even today, less than a century had passed from nuclear weapons' theoretical conception to their physical creation, let alone in a prehistoric civilization.
In fact, the origin of high-energy physics—the atomic theory—could be traced back to the Greek philosopher Democritus and the Chinese philosopher Huizi of the Warring States period, around 300–400 BC. The dates when the two proposed their theories coincided astonishingly closely, with no more than fifty years between them.
In modern times, less than fifty years had likewise passed between the first discovery of the electron and the detonation of the first atomic bomb.
"Nuclear weapons?"
Enmenam had heard the term before. It was just that he had recently taken in a vast and miscellaneous amount of information without organizing or deeply understanding any of it. At best, he had reached the level of an illiterate person—he could listen and speak, but not write. That alone was already quite remarkable.
"More or less the same as what you described!"
The Saint of "Word Spirit," Sophia Green, turned her laptop around and faced the screen toward Enmenam.
A video of a modern nuclear test was playing on the screen. The flash, mushroom cloud, and the shock waves and flames that destroyed everything in
