"Are you two generals here to pay me a visit or settle a score? There's no need to tear down my shabby little stall, is there?" Shen Tang joked.
Chao Lian's fair face turned scarlet with embarrassment.
He'd already done his best to stop his sworn brother, but the other man was stronger than him and dead set on coming to see Lord Shen. He'd charged ahead like a little bull, practically dragging Chao Lian along with him. Chao Lian could only clasp his hands in apology, then smack the back of his younger brother's head in irritation. "You little rascal, aren't you going to apologize to Lord Shen?"
Shao Chong pouted. "Twelfth Brother, you hit me."
Chao Lian wasn't falling for his little act of coyness.
He yanked Shao Chong's ear. "You've got hide like an ox, and you're telling me that hurt?"
Shao Chong begged for mercy, then clasped his hands toward Shen Tang. "All right, all right, I was wrong. Isn't that enough? Please go easy on me, Twelfth Brother."
Shen Tang didn't hold it against the brothers. She gave Gu Chi a meaningful look: record everything Shao Chong had broken and everyone he'd injured, then make Gu Ren pay for it. Gu Chi understood at once. He silently embellished the tally in his mind, planning to carve another chunk of flesh off Gu Ren.
"Lord Shen, do you remember me?" Shao Chong hurried over to Shen Tang, using his Martial Gall Warrior's bulk to quietly squeeze Gu Chi aside. His eyes brimmed with anticipation as he introduced himself. "My name's Shao Chong. Shao as in Shaoyang, Chong as in blazing with anger."
Shen Tang glanced at Chao Lian, slightly surprised.
If she remembered correctly, Shao Chong had once been mentally impaired. Looking at him now, she
