Gu Chi's mouth twitched. "What is my lord doing?"
Shen Tang said, "Crush whoever you have a grudge against."
Gu Chi's gaze drifted to Luan Xin. Luan Xin looked back at him with an indifferent expression, then the two of them looked at Shen Tang together.
Shen Tang: "..."
Even the most skilled player in a love triangle couldn't keep this bowl of water level.
Gu Chi didn't make things too difficult for Shen Tang. After all, if he provoked his lord, he'd be the one to suffer. His lips curled into a faint, chilling smile brimming with Killing Intent. "It's a vendetta for my whole family!"
His answer made Luan Xin glance over.
He still remembered when he'd laid his cards on the table with Gu Chi. The latter had said, "Either way, there's only one person left in my family. Even if I'm utterly defeated and my clan is wiped out, that'll still only cost me one life." He hadn't thought much of it at the time. He hadn't expected this fellow to have such a rough past, too.
Shen Tang's gaze turned sharp. "A vendetta for your whole family? Tao Yan?"
Gu Chi said, "Yes, though he didn't do it with his own hands."
Back when Gu Chi's homeland had been destroyed, the former Sovereign of Xin Country had heeded a diviner's advice. He hadn't slaughtered the royal family and the nobles of the fallen kingdom, nor had he imprisoned them. Instead, he'd shown them leniency and stripped them all of their titles, making them commoners. But they weren't grateful. Driven by the harsh reality of being penniless and destitute, they'd devoted themselves to plotting how to restore their kingdom and return to their former lives of privilege.
They formed factions and secretly ran around seeking allies.
