Leadership

Background and History

The Yulin branch accepts Jiang Shuo and Li Zicheng as temporary assistants after Elder Bian recognizes their aptitude and Yushan's urgent need for medical workers during a famine. Formal admission is not initially granted, but the arrangement offers them a path to become disciples 7.

The sect's influence rests on both medicine and martial arts. It is willing to shelter martial artists from other sects, gathering their techniques through favors, refuge, and the issuance of Hundred Flowers Orders. This policy gives it a varied martial arts collection rather than a single defining cultivation method 17.

In Yulin, the sect clashes with the Mad Saber Sect after Jiang Shuo and Sun Daoming infiltrate its Forbidden Ground. Feng En ultimately kills Taishu Sheng, arrests the defeated sect's disciples, and takes control of its territory. Following Gu Ming's fall, Feng En stabilizes the Yulin branch and becomes its new Sect Master 36 57.

The Capital branch possesses deeper connections to the Imperial Court. The sect was originally established with court funding, and a marriage between Ji Huaying and the son of the Right Censor-in-Chief is arranged to strengthen political ties 94.

Behind its healing-focused reputation, the sect conceals a history of exploiting human bones. Ji Wangu deceives Gu Han into teaching bone-touching methods to ordinary disciples under the pretense of healing. Gu Han and Feng En later discover that the sect is harming civilians and stealing bones, but Gu Han refuses to testify when Feng En reports the matter, allowing the organization to avoid punishment 197 200.

By the time Jiang Shuo learns the truth, the sect is implicated in multiple assassination attempts against him. Its Bone Replacement Users operate alongside the Iron Cloud Gang, and Dream Red Pavilion attacks the sect after discovering that it took the bones of Meng Furen's husband 198 199 214.

• Recruitment in Yulin — Jiang Shuo and Li Zicheng take the sect's herb-identification entrance examination. Elder Bian later retains them as temporary assistants despite Zhao Zhi's objections 6 7.
• Conflict with Chen Zhiqing and Zhao Zhi — Sect members become entangled in Chen Zhiqing's attempt to frame Jiang Shuo. Feng En intervenes, protects Jiang Shuo and Yu Yuhan, and publicly condemns Chen Zhiqing 13 15.
