"Cough, Fiers, you and your men stay here and organize the civilians to put out the fire. The rest of you, come with me!"
After the Gold Cloaks had dealt with the enemies in the stairway alley, their captain coughed and quickly issued a few orders before leading his men in pursuit of Eddard's group.
"Cough, spit! That bastard really is a piece of work. He sent us in first to die just now, but when it comes to taking credit, he's the first one charging ahead."
Fiers, who had been left in charge of seven Gold Cloaks to put out the fire, spat in the direction their captain had gone and cursed loudly.
"Cough, cough! Get the civilians hiding inside those houses out here to put out the fire. If we can't get it under control, they'll all die!"
After cursing for a while, Fiers was choked by the thick smoke and coughed several times. Then he gave his men their orders.
As he watched the Gold Cloaks leave, Fiers kept coughing from the smoke. A sudden idea came to him, and he plopped down on a corpse. The smoke drifted overhead, and it was much easier to breathe once he sat down.

A flurry of footsteps approached. Fiers looked up and saw that the encircling squads from the other two directions had arrived.
