Background / History

Shi Liuli encountered Luo Yan when he arrived at Penglai Yuqing Temple seeking admission. Initially judging him to be naïve and unprepared, she nevertheless explained the Daozang-based entrance examination and led him to study, pleased that he addressed her as “Senior Sister.” 12

While waiting for Luo Yan's exam, she considered herself unusually responsible for worrying over an applicant who had not formally joined the sect. Her concern was immediately displaced when fellow disciples mentioned a limited release of Beauty-Nourishing Pills. 13

After Luo Yan became a Top Jia disciple, Shi Liuli briefly checked that he had adapted to classes, then lost interest in the apparently ordinary junior brother. Her interest returned after she sensed an incongruity between Luo Yan's harmless façade and his actual temperament. 24

She investigated his entrance-exam record after recognizing that he had claimed not to know the Daozang before scoring perfectly on the examination. Convinced that he was concealing something, she confronted him in private with her Heaven-Turning Seal and accused him of being an outside spy. 25 34

Luo Yan's knowledge of alchemy and extraordinary comprehension ultimately impressed her. Shi Liuli brought him to Elder Shi Ding, who accepted Luo Yan into the Heavenly Crafts Workshop; she thereafter took an active role in showing him around and treating him as her Junior Brother. 34 35

Wanting to advance her cultivation more quickly, Shi Liuli became determined to uncover the secrets of Li Palace. She repeatedly enlisted Luo Yan to search scriptures, analyze the secret realm, and identify its trials and opening date. 42 44

During Kunlun's visit to Penglai, Shi Liuli became an enthusiastic admirer of Qiu Changtian after hearing of his reputation and rescue of trapped Penglai disciples. Shi Liuli is proud, impulsive, and accustomed to being indulged. As Elder Shi Ding's daughter and the Heavenly Crafts Workshop's cherished junior sister, she grew up heavily protected by powerful family members and fellow disciples, contributing to a self-centered “princess” disposition. 42 50

Despite this, she is not malicious. She helped Luo Yan before he had joined the sect, advocated for him once she recognized his talent, and remains genuinely invested in his success as her Junior Brother. 12 35 50

She is curious and unexpectedly perceptive when something catches her attention. Her intuition detected that Luo Yan's harmless persona did not match his true demeanor, prompting her to examine his records and confront him directly. 24 25 34 However, she can also be naïve and impatient, relying on Luo Yan to solve problems she cannot investigate herself—particularly the mystery of Li Palace. 42 44
