His face was grave. He adjusted the Fan Cloud Crown atop his head, and a dusky, shadowy Auspicious Cloud rose from his Niwan Palace. Strands of Chaos Ethereal Light hung down, enveloping him like a Water Curtain beneath the eaves.
Meng Qi strode toward the ruins' exit. The closer he got, the more sluggish he felt, and the thicker the air around him seemed, as though he were sinking into a swamp. The Chaos Ethereal Light hanging from the Taishang Limitless Yuan Shi Auspicious Cloud swayed unsteadily, solidifying inch by inch.
This was a barrier wrought by time, born of an extreme contrast in its speed. Though they were in the same world, Meng Qi and Han Guang and Bi Jingxuan were separated by only "a wall," yet they now inhabited different worlds. Even if their figures overlapped, they would feel nothing.
The Chaos Ethereal Light devoured and dispelled the clinging barrier, but it, too, grew increasingly solid. Only by relying on his Other Shore Trait and his perception of fate and the River of Time could Meng Qi barely press forward.
One step, then two. With each, the going grew harder. Suddenly, Meng Qi felt everything around him come to a halt, leaving only darkness before his eyes.
