Lianfeng paused, then operated the projector, displaying some of the materials she had on the big screen. The dense documents, complicated charts, and obscure formulas looked like they were written in another language. She didn't seem to care whether anyone could understand them.
"In the past, Super Seminary conducted extremely in-depth research into the Space-Time Theory. Based on some information from the Shenhe Civilization and several remnants of advanced technological theories, we constructed a complex Space-Time Model."
"In this model, space-time isn't a single, linear entity as we traditionally understand it. It's more like an enormous, intricate web. Every moment in time and every location in space is like a node in that web, interconnected and influencing one another."
"In theory, if we could find a way to break through the conventional limits on the Time Flow Rate, or even briefly enter a special space-time dimension, time might appear in a completely different form there."
"In that special dimension, the past, present, and future might not be clearly separated, but instead exist in a chaotic, interwoven state."
"Through some highly precise means of observation and analysis, it might be possible to capture fragments of information about the future."
"It would be like finding the thread that represents the future in a tangled mass of fibers."
"During the Deno Period, I took part in related research. We built special devices to simulate this environment and did indeed capture some anomalous signals. Those indistinct fluctuations seemed to be connected to future events."
"Unfortunately, however, the technology of the time was limited, and our understanding of the nature of space-time wasn't deep enough. We were never able to reproduce these phenomena reliably, much less accurately interpret what the signals meant."
"In the end, we had to put the research on hold for the time being. But there's no denying that, in theory, precognition isn't entirely impossible."
As she spoke, Lianfeng glanced at Du Qiangwei, a faintly unusual expression in her eyes.
The Space-Time Gene!
The Space-Time Gene Du Qiangwei possessed was an unfinished Super Gene Engineering project. Back in the Angel Civilization Period, while Super Seminary was still in Angel City, Liang Bing and Carl had researched it together.
Later, Super Seminary was driven out of Angel City. The unfinished Space-Time Gene was brought to Deno, where research on it continued.
In designing the Space-Time Gene, Liang Bing had tried to give its bearer the ability to sense subtle fluctuations in space-time. These fluctuations weren't limited to the present; in theory, they might extend into the past and future.
The past could be reclaimed, and the future could be changed!
That was Liang Bing's original intention in designing the Space-Time Gene. It might have been difficult to achieve with the technology available, but that only applied to the present.
Lena pursed her lips. The complicated theories gave her a bit of a headache, but she couldn't help interjecting. "No matter what, this all sounds way too far-fetched. Even if this kind of Precognition Ability exists, the future changes every second. What's the point of knowing about it? Knowing ahead of time might even change what would have happened and make things worse."
General Dukao tapped the table lightly, his expression serious. "Lena has a point. Precognition does involve a great deal of uncertainty. But Earth is currently facing threats from both the Angels and the Taotie. If we could learn some key information in advance, we might be able to take the initiative when dealing with a crisis."
"So, Lianfeng, do you think the person who predicted the Angels' arrival and the Taotie's attack might really have mastered some method we don't know about, broken through the conventional limits of space-time, and learned about these events before they happen?"
"But who could do that? As far as I know, the only ones in the Known Universe who might possess this kind of technology are the Angels, the Demons, and Death God Karl." Lena crossed her arms and pondered.
"Anyway, it couldn't be Lieyang."
Jace considered it. "He called the Angels bird-people, so he can't be one of them. Does that mean he might be a Demon, or someone working for Death God Karl?"
"No." Lianfeng shook her head.
"I don't think it's either of them."
"Why?" Dukao asked.
"Qiangwei met this person six months ago. He suddenly appeared on Earth, and Deno Three couldn't find any trace of his arrival. It was as if he'd come out of nowhere," Lianfeng said.
"Moreover, during their interactions, this person once hinted to Qiangwei that he came from the Pangu Civilization."
"The Pangu Civilization? Is there really a God-Tier Civilization like that in the Known Universe?" Lena frowned and quickly searched her Database, but found no relevant information at all.
"There is, but not in the present," Lianfeng said.
"According to Super Seminary's Database, the Pangu Civilization was an Ancient Civilization that existed hundreds of millions of years ago. It's also the earliest civilization in the universe that we know of. Death God Karl once proposed the concept of the Ultimate Fear through his research on this civilization."
"The Ultimate Fear? What's that?" Du Qiangwei asked, puzzled.
Lianfeng thought for a moment, organizing her explanation. "No matter how far Mainlife Civilization advances, it will always encounter an even more powerful, irresistible force that Primary Biological Technology cannot overcome."
"Simply put, the universe cannot contain the highest intelligence. It's like us being inside a sealed box: no matter how hard we try, we can't break through its limits."
"If intelligence can't break through the universe, then it can't understand it. Karl defined this as the Ultimate Fear: an obstacle that intelligence cannot overcome, like an impassable chasm standing in the way of civilization's progress."
"Under the Ultimate Fear, everything we know may be completely wrong. For example, as our technology advances and we explore the edge of the universe, our civilization's intellect will find that no technological theory, nor any knowledge accumulated over hundreds of thousands of years, can define the universe's edge. Yet it exists."
"So there must still be knowledge unknown to civilization that can explain all of this—knowledge that can unravel everything even the highest intelligence cannot penetrate."
"And the highest intelligence in the Dark Nebula, Death God Karl, called it the Ultimate Void. He believes that the key to unlocking the Ultimate Fear lies hidden there."
"So..." Lena paused.
"You suspect this person is a reviver of the Pangu Civilization?"
"It's very possible," Lianfeng said.
During ongoing research into the Super Gene Code, many scholars had discovered that, in the end, the Gene Code was nothing more than a set of conceptual data. The amount of data was enormous, but it could still be recorded, stored, and recreated.
The Code could be scattered anywhere in the universe. As long as there was enough energy and matter, it could be regenerated.
Even after hundreds of millions of years!
