Family and Arranged Marriage

Ning Rongrong grew up as Ning Fengzhi’s cherished daughter, with Chen Xin and Gu Rong treating her as their own granddaughter. Her father raised her after her mother’s death. Following his late wife’s instructions, he arranged Rongrong’s marriage to the mysterious youth he had preserved in the sect’s forbidden grounds 1 3 4.

Initially bashful and reluctant, Rongrong agreed to kiss the apparently lifeless Ye Xingchen after learning that the request came from her mother. He opened his eyes as she approached and returned the kiss, leaving her embarrassed. Ning Fengzhi then declared him the sect’s Young Master and Rongrong’s husband 2 3.

Their wedding took place that night, with Chen Xin officiating. Although Ning Fengzhi intended to keep the marriage private, Rongrong later called Ye Xingchen her husband in front of the sect’s disciples, forcing her father to confirm it publicly 3 4 22.

She later acquired another cultivation opportunity when Liu Erlong subdued the Pink Lady leader. Ye Xingchen brought the dying beast back for her and stood guard while she began absorbing its Soul Ring 118.

Five-Year Separation and Reunion

During Ye Xingchen’s five-year absence, Rongrong continually missed him and searched for news without success. She eagerly questioned Chrysanthemum Douluo when he finally brought word of his return, then rushed out of her carriage to embrace Ye Xingchen when they reunited 219 222.

Over those years, she, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing had become as close as sisters. On the journey back to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Rongrong openly accepted the three of them remaining at Ye Xingchen’s side together 223.

Later Travels and the Shadow Army Threat

While traveling, Rongrong gave displaced villagers roughly a dozen gold coins and urged them to move somewhere safer. She later accompanied the group to Vast Sea City, where she lavishly bought fruit for the women 249 251.

After being rendered unconscious by icy poison, she was awakened by Ye Xingchen’s sea soul power, aided by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King. She subsequently accompanied his group to the Sea God trials, though the supplied account does not identify her individual trial grade 265 277.

During the Shadow Army crisis, Rongrong demonstrated her evolved Martial Soul’s ability to strengthen an entire army, suggesting it might help resist the enemy. When Qian Renxue instead sought advice about pursuing Ye Xingchen, Rongrong asserted her standing as his rightful wife before offering advice 312.

Personality

Rongrong is mischievous, outspoken, and accustomed to being indulged. Known as a “Little Demoness,” she behaves more sweetly around her father but readily challenges outsiders. Her pride also makes her persistent. After Ye Xingchen suggests that she should learn to cook, she treats it as a challenge and continues despite kitchen fires, burned food, and half-cooked chicken. She recognizes her lack of wilderness cooking skills and agrees to keep practicing 23 25.

She is fiercely loyal to those she considers her own. She refuses to abandon Ye Xingchen before Erming, promises to stand by Xiao Wu even if others turn against her, and intervenes when she believes Zhu Zhuqing is receiving unwanted attention. Her generosity extends beyond her friends, as shown by her assistance to endangered villagers 34 61 152 249.

Rongrong eventually accepts Ye Xingchen’s relationships with Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing, but remains proud of being his formally married wife. She pointedly asserts that precedence when confronted by Huo Wu and later by Qian Renxue 136 223 312.
