Hyuga Makoto’s clash with the Akatsuki and the Fourth Raikage exposed the threat of the Otsutsuki and left Konoha holding the injured Raikage. As Konoha prepared to negotiate for Hizashi Hyuga’s remains, Makoto considered killing his captive under an Akatsuki disguise.

• Karatachi Yagura thanked Makoto, Jiraiya, and Kakashi for stopping the attack, while Makoto and Jiraiya explained the Akatsuki threat and urged Kirigakure to cooperate.
• Makoto returned to Konoha, trained his new abilities, recruited Uchiha Izumi, and joined Shisui in approaching Kakuzu to pursue Obito.
• Makoto and Shisui faced Pain, Obito, Orochimaru, Kakuzu, and Scorpion, but a mysterious figure’s power overwhelmed the battlefield and revealed Makoto’s growing strength.
• Nagato trapped Makoto with Planetary Devastation, but Makoto split the sphere before golden light swallowed him and Obito, and afterward, the Akatsuki learned more about Kaguya, the God Tree, and the Otsutsuki.
• Makoto traveled with Jiraiya, Kakashi, and Izumi to the Land of Rain, where Obito’s group attacked and the Fourth Raikage joined the battle while seeking Makoto’s Byakugan.
• Makoto defeated the Fourth Raikage and badly injured Kakuzu, while Tsunade agreed to return to Konoha and the Akatsuki resolved to investigate Makoto’s power.
• Makoto brought the unconscious Raikage to Konoha, where Hiruzen demanded negotiations and Hizashi’s remains in exchange for restraint, and Makoto named his new Gentle Fist technique Divine Sky Strike.
• After the Raikage awoke in Konoha Hospital, Makoto told Shisui he planned to kill him while disguised as an Akatsuki member and asked Shisui to investigate the bounty on his head.

Hyuga Makoto avenged Hizashi, clashed with Nagato’s Akatsuki, and expanded his research into Yin and Yang Release. As villages turned their attention to the Land of Fields, Makoto sent a powerful Clone there, where it ambushed the Akatsuki and destroyed Obito.

• Hyuga Makoto escorted the captured Fourth Raikage, then joined Shisui in disguising themselves as Akatsuki members for an ambush planned by Ōnoki.
• Ōnoki’s intervention disrupted the battle, but Makoto killed the Fourth Raikage and returned to Konoha after avenging Hizashi Hyuga.
• Makoto demonstrated his new techniques before Konoha’s shinobi, then investigated the Akatsuki’s suspected bases in the Land of Rain and the Land of Fields.
• Pain and the Akatsuki ambushed Danzo and sent a double bearing his memories back to Konoha, while Makoto’s group confronted them in the Land of Fields.
• Makoto fought Pain, drained some of Nagato’s power, and evacuated his allies as a devastating blast engulfed Nagato, Obito, and Black Zetsu.
• Makoto absorbed Kimimaro’s Yang Release, developed new bodily traits, and invited Uchiha Izumi to join his Yin Release and Yang Release research team.
• Makoto attended Hizashi’s burial, then observed his Clone awaken Dust Release after absorbing chakra from the Fourth Raikage’s corpse.
• Makoto sent the Dust Release Clone, codenamed Ishikawa, to the Land of Fields, where it broke free of Obito’s Wood Release and disintegrated him as its attack spread toward Itachi and the others.
