Background / History

Xiao Yan was once regarded as the Xiao Family's third young master, but lost his ability to retain Fighting Energy. By the time of Nalan Yanran's visit, he is treated with contempt within his own clan and enters the engagement-annulment gathering as a three-Duan Dou Qi cultivator. Despite the humiliation, he remains composed rather than despairing. 9

Following Nalan Yanran's annulment, he vows that he will not endure such humiliation again. Xiao Yi Xian subsequently reveals that the ring he wears contains Yao Chen, the soul who absorbed Xiao Yan's Fighting Energy for three years. Though angered by the revelation, Xiao Yan chooses to seek Yao Chen's help in becoming stronger. 10

Xiao Yi Xian later tells Xiao Yan that she is also a transmigrator from Huaxia. Their shared origin strengthens their connection, though their early interactions are frequently marked by misunderstandings, intimidation, and physical altercations. 11 15
