Background / History

Yan Lin was a human from Earth before being killed in an accident involving a runaway mud truck and reincarnating as an orphaned Snake Person of the Mo Bass Tribe in the Tagor Desert. Though his soul remained human, he initially supported peaceful coexistence between humans and Snake People. 1

An early Snake People coming-of-age trial changed that outlook. Yan Lin spared a human girl, only for her to betray him; he survived solely because a Snake People expert was secretly protecting him. He thereafter accepted that humans would not regard him as one of their own and committed himself to the Snake People Clan. 1

His talent brought him to the attention of the clan’s leadership. During the Snake Spirit Awakening Ceremony, he copied and fused the Seven-Colored Sky-Swallowing Python bloodline, gaining exceptional potential. Queen Medusa subsequently recognized him publicly as the Snake People Clan’s Saint King and entered a five-year marriage pact with him. 4 9 10

Yan Lin later left the Tagor Desert in human form, intending to seize opportunities across the Jia Ma Empire and beyond rather than let them fall to Xiao Yan. 35 36

Personality

Yan Lin is pragmatic, calculating, and exceptionally ruthless toward enemies. As a child, he answers a training scenario by declaring that a hidden human child should be killed whether the child chooses a knife, candy, or neither; his reasoning is that each option signals a future threat. 1

He is highly ambitious and opportunistic, pursuing bloodlines, physiques, alchemical talent, Heavenly Flames, techniques, and other resources through his copying ability. He is willing to manipulate circumstances and opponents to acquire what he wants, including treating repeated sparring matches as experiments to determine his golden finger’s rules. 21 36 49
