Lucky Week
Today, the boys' dormitory was unusually awake early, probably because of yesterday's rumors.
Little chubby Neville had been acting oddly ever since he got up.
That meaningful smile Harry had given him before bed last night had left him on edge.
Harry ate breakfast while admiring Hermione.
Merlin had been right. When there was beauty before one's eyes during a meal, one's appetite became much better. (Note: Merlin's original words were: When camping, if there is beautiful scenery before your eyes, even ordinary food will become delicious.)
Harry shamelessly twisted "beautiful scenery" into "beautiful woman," convinced that if Merlin knew, he would surely regard Harry as a kindred spirit! (Merlin coughed up blood...)
Hermione simply could not stand Harry's burning gaze anymore. Honestly, why had she not chosen another place? The dining hall was clearly so large.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Harry, have you stared enough?"
Harry smiled. "How could I? Even a lifetime wouldn't be enough."
Seeing the flustered look in Hermione's eyes, he secretly laughed. Teasing young girls was his favorite thing!
After waiting for quite a while, Hermione finally asked, "When are you planning to start your plan?"
"What are we waiting for? Of course we'll start today."
"Have you discussed it with the professors already?"
"No, but it won't be too late to do that later."
Hermione said helplessly, "You told me about this plan of yours days ago, yet you still haven't taken action. Are you really so sure the professors will agree to your request?"
Harry said, "I'm not breaking any school rules. It's just a small matter. Besides, the professors won't refuse when they see that I'm thinking of my classmates, right?"
"But will this really work?"
Harry said seriously, "I think this is already the best way. Neville is too timid, not good with words, not good at expressing himself, introverted, and lacking in confidence..."
"Only by doing this can we make him more confident. Of course, it won't completely change his personality in a short time. At most, it will plant a seed in his heart. That seed will gradually change him, making him brave and confident."
"Actually, even if I didn't do this, I still think Neville would become an outstanding wizard someday. I'm only speeding up the process."
"You really think so?"
Harry nodded with a smile. After all, when everyone believed Harry was dead, Neville had bravely stepped forward to resist Voldemort.
In the end, he had even drawn the Sword of Gryffindor and killed the great snake Nagini!
Harry first went to find Professor Flitwick, the Charms professor, and explained his intentions.
Professor Flitwick looked excited. "I never thought I would be able to help Harry, The Boy Who Lived. What an honor!"
Harry was speechless. He had originally prepared a whole persuasive speech, but apparently none of it would be needed.
Something baffling happened during Charms class that day.
Professor Flitwick tested Neville on a spell. Neville stood up nervously and answered with a stammer, getting several parts wrong.
No one was surprised by Neville's performance. Whenever he was called on, he was always like this.
Seeing Neville's appearance, Malfoy snorted disdainfully.
Yet to everyone's surprise, Professor Flitwick acted as if he had won a million Galleons and shouted excitedly, "Mr. Longbottom has made tremendous progress since last time, so..."
He deliberately drew it out. "So I've decided to award Gryffindor ten points."
The room erupted in uproar and discussion. Who awarded points just because someone had improved?
Harry and Hermione exchanged a look, then lowered their heads in speechless disbelief.
Even if he wanted to award points, could he not have found a better excuse?
Professor Flitwick raised his brows. "Then, let's cheer for Mr. Longbottom!"
He began clapping first. The students below exchanged glances with those around them, then joined in with confused expressions.
The little lions of Gryffindor did not care what Professor Flitwick was thinking. As long as Gryffindor got points, that was all that mattered.
Malfoy angrily slammed his book onto the desk and glared fiercely at a certain little snake who was absentmindedly clapping along.
Professor Flitwick discreetly glanced at Harry as if claiming credit, but Harry pretended not to notice.
Harry noticed that Neville had initially looked utterly stunned and at a loss. Seamus's praise made his face turn red, but those brief seconds when the entire class stared at him in surprise still stirred a strange emotion in Neville's heart.
A very different light appeared in his timid, dull eyes, and the head he usually kept lowered seemed to rise slightly.
Harry watched Neville closely and naturally caught that faint change. It looked like this really was working!
Aside from Harry and Hermione, no one knew what interesting things would happen to Neville next.
Potions class was only the beginning.
What followed was like wave after wave of bombardment. It was as if every professor had suddenly discovered that Neville was a wizard whose talent could rival Harry's. Neville became their treasure, too precious to hold in their mouths and too fragile to hold in their hands.
During Astronomy class, Professor Sinistra praised Neville for putting great effort into the assignment she had given and awarded Gryffindor five points.
During Herbology, Professor Sprout praised Neville for taking the greatest care of the Bupleaf Root he had planted and awarded Gryffindor three points.
During History of Magic, Professor Binns continued reading the textbook in his hollow, dull voice. Everyone had assumed Professor Binns would be the exception, but near the end of class, he suddenly said slowly, "Do we have someone named Neville in this class?"
The students nearly fainted in unison. You did not even know that? Were you going to praise Neville too?
Sure enough, Professor Binns said slowly, "Because Neville did not fall asleep during class, Gryffindor will receive five points."
The students: (⊙o⊙)...
During Transfiguration, even Professor McGonagall, who was known for her strictness, rarely revealed a slight smile. She adjusted her glasses and said, "Because of Mr. Longbottom's outstanding performance, Gryffindor will receive three points!"
The students below had already gone numb. Why was Neville so lucky? Everything he had done was clearly so ordinary.
During class, the professors lavishly praised Neville without hesitation and greatly increased Gryffindor's score.
Naturally, this aroused speculation and jealousy among the students.
In the end, they could only conclude that this period was Neville's lucky time. What else could it be?
Some observant students noticed that Harry was clearly still the same as before these days, yet he had earned almost no points for Gryffindor.
However, they did not connect those two things.
This strange situation lasted for an entire week!
