Across the snow-white battlefield stood humanoid ice sculptures of every shape and pose—some prone, some crouching, some running. Their faces were twisted in terror, their skin, mouths, noses, and eyes covered in ice crystals, like cruel works of art proclaiming brutality.

The battlefield abruptly fell silent, and the fierce pursuit came to a sudden halt.
