Ether, known as the fifth element, was contained within every soul, living or otherwise.

Anse floated in the Ethereal Plane, free from the pull of gravity and able to move freely in any direction.

Yet the omnipresent ethereal energy was like condensed air, a hazy fog that greatly increased resistance and reduced his movement speed to half of what it was on the Material Plane.

The good news was that he could still fly. Once he spread his Dragon Wings, his speed surged, far faster than drifting along at a leisurely pace.

He flapped his wings and shot forward with a whoosh.

Then, with a bang, he slammed into an invisible barrier.

"Ugh—"

He backed away, rubbing his sore nose. Once he confirmed it had not been flattened, he reached out to feel the invisible barrier overlapping the Black Tower.

"The Black Tower can actually block off the Ethereal Plane?"

Or rather, the Black Tower came with a Wall of Force that prevented other creatures from slipping into the tower through Etherealness.

He wondered whether other Mage Towers had the same effect.

He decided he would try it at the Arcane Research Society when he had the chance.

After familiarizing himself with his ability, a thought crossed his mind, and his body seemed to break through an intangible, invisible membrane before abruptly appearing in the room.

"This is Phase Shift. It's so fun."

He brought up his Character Sheet. Under supernatural abilities, there was now an additional entry: "Ethereal Jaunt."

"Ethereal Jaunt": You gain an ethereal body and can freely enter and leave the Ethereal Plane.

The description was simple, yet the ability was more powerful than he had imagined.

There was no time limit at all. He could remain in the Ethereal Plane for an entire day,
