Everyone stared at the pool of silvery-white blood on the ground, and the mood instantly turned somber.
The silver liquid glimmered in the moonlight, giving off a sacred yet eerie radiance.
Hermione crouched down and examined the bloodstain closely.
"Could some animal have hunted the unicorn?"
She frowned, her voice tinged with worry.
"Like a pack of wolves? Or some other kind of vicious beast?"
Hagrid shook his head, his expression turning unusually grave.
"Impossible, Hermione."
He stood up and looked around at the surrounding trees.
"There are only two kinds of creatures in this part of the Forbidden Forest that could hurt a unicorn."
"One is Centaurs, but they would never hunt unicorns. They consider them sacred and would sooner starve than harm them."
Ron swallowed.
"What's the other one?"
"Acromantulas."
"But they wouldn't hurt a unicorn either."
Hagrid's voice grew low.
At the name, Ron instantly broke out in goosebumps.
He was terrified of spiders, let alone something as horrifying as an Acromantula.
"Acromantulas?!"
Ron's voice cracked.
"Hagrid, are you sure? They don't sound like the sort of things that wouldn't hurt a unicorn."
Harry patted Ron's shoulder, trying to comfort him.
But he looked uneasy himself.
The name Acromantula alone was enough to send shivers down anyone's spine.
Hagrid shook his head, sounding certain.
"I'm sure Acromantulas wouldn't hurt a unicorn."
"They look terrifying, but they have a sweet side too. I'm certain of it."
But Hagrid never explained why Acromantulas wouldn't hurt unicorns.
"So it was probably a Dark wizard who's wandered into the Forbidden Forest. Only those nasty sorts would hurt a unicorn."
Charlie listened from the side, already planning an escape route.
Centaurs, Acromantulas, or Dark wizards—none of them sounded like easy opponents.
Especially not Dark wizards.
His spells hadn't even reached level five
