Albert's voice was so loud it nearly lifted the roof. Rita was startled, and the teacup in her hand almost slipped to the floor.

"What?"

Rita blinked, completely at a loss.

"Who could I have offended? I only wrote a little article, didn't I?"

"Your little article got me into a huge mess!"

Albert sneered and walked up to Rita.

"The Ministry of Magic just sent us an official warning, accusing us of making things up, maliciously slandering someone, and seriously damaging their reputation!"

"Do you know how long it's been since the Ministry of Magic got involved in our affairs?"

Rita's heart sank, but she forced herself to stay calm.

"Why would the Ministry of Magic care about something so trivial? Someone must be pulling strings behind the scenes."

She stood up and adjusted her gorgeous curls.

"Besides, everything I wrote was backed up by evidence."

"If your article was backed up by evidence..."

"Then why have so many students and their parents signed a joint complaint, demanding that we issue a public apology and compensate them for their losses?"

At that, Rita relaxed a little.

She'd seen plenty of complaints from students and parents. Usually, they made a lot of noise but nothing came of it, and the whole thing eventually blew over.

"Albert, don't be so nervous."

Rita waved a hand, unconcerned.

"It's just a protest from a bunch of students' parents. It's not the first time we've dealt with one."

"Once things die down, they'll forget all about it."

"At worst, we can take the article down. Give it some time, and everything will be fine."

"The press has no memory."

"You think it's only students' parents?"

Albert sneered and pulled a thick letter from inside his robes.

"Take a look at this!"
