Because water was scarce on the Moon, food rations here were tight. Meat in particular was a pure luxury in Attilan, where even water had to be rationed according to plan, since it had such a low energy conversion rate.
Fresh fruit gleamed temptingly, and all kinds of fine wine were laid out on the table for anyone to take—though in truth, they did not need to take it themselves. Servants poured their wine for them.
Perhaps as a side effect of Terrigenesis, this servant was an absolute beauty. She was about to pour wine for the renowned Karnak, smiling charmingly at him all the while.
He looked at her as well and completed his calculation in his mind: Two and a half days—on the first day, I'll be captivated by your beauty.
The servant lowered her head shyly.
"We'll be very happy. On the second day, I'll start caring that you're a servant.
Then I'll discover that you have dependency issues, and that you chew with your mouth open."
The servant's expression changed, and she instinctively bit her lip.
"By the afternoon of the second day, I'll want to kill you. Sad, but true."
And by the morning of the third day, clearly, this servant would need to die.
The servant was completely terrified, but she remembered the rules of serving the Royal Family and did not show the slightest dissatisfaction. She quickly withdrew.
The burly man across from him froze. "Your greatest enemy is yourself, brother."
Karnak replied, "Are you joking? This is my gift."
Maximus strode into the dining hall and nearly ran into a pale, frightened maid. Under normal circumstances, he might have offered a few words of comfort, but this was
