Attilan, a self-sufficient city built on the moon.

It sounded impressive—the moon, self-sufficiency—but in reality, aside from the Royal Family's palace and the central district, everywhere else was quite crowded, with scarce land resources.

The dome was an observation station left behind by the Kree, so they had no way to build a second Attilan on the moon.

On the moon, iron and high-quality sand were the least scarce resources, so most buildings were made of reinforced concrete. To make the most of the available space, the entire city looked like a gigantic castle built from concrete.

The topmost level housed members of the Royal Family. The vast aerial plaza might have occupied a tenth of all Attilan. Every residence faced the sun on all sides and enjoyed the gentlest sunlight filtered through the dome. All who lived there were capable Inhumans.

Below that were the residences of outstanding Inhuman officials. Most came from distinguished families and likewise owned spacious detached villas. Though they received less sunlight than the Royal Family, they could at least enjoy a share of sunlight all their own.

Further down lived Inhumans whose families lacked any foundation, but who had gained highly practical abilities after passing through the Terrigen Mist. They worked for the Royal Family and had broad public squares where they could share sunlight with others. A small number could obtain homes with balconies.

Then came Lower Castle. Most of the precious land on this level was devoted to keeping the factories running, and most people lived purely collective lives.

What did it feel like to live amid a concrete jungle that blotted out the sky? In any case, Maximus thought it could not have felt good.
