Professor X Loses His Mind

Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Wolverine Logan stood in silence within the treatment room, surrounding Professor X, who lay on the apparatus.

At this moment, Professor X's gleaming bald head and bare torso were covered with various monitoring instruments. His eyes were open, but there was not a trace of light in them. If not for the heartbeat displayed on the electrocardiogram, he would surely be mistaken for dead.

But the result was nearly the same—he had completely "lost his mind," no different from a vegetable.

A somber air of grief permeated the room. For Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey, Professor X was far more than just a teacher. He had largely filled the void of family affection in their lives, and all three regarded him as a father figure.

Moreover, Professor X was the deeply trusted and even relied-upon leader of the X-Men. Losing their leader, teacher, and father all at once was an unimaginable blow to the trio—a blow so heavy that they seemed at a loss for what to do next.

"We have to do something." Watching the three standing there for nearly two hours, Wolverine Logan finally couldn't hold back.

"Magneto has already taken Rogue. Using her powers, at the cost of sacrificing her, he can achieve his goal." Logan was frantic now, because Rogue had come to this Mutant School with him. If anything happened to her, Logan wouldn't be able to live with himself.

Unlike Logan's urgency, Storm and Jean Grey silently continued adjusting the instruments, while Cyclops, seated before Professor X, finally looked up.

"Logan, give us a little more time to confirm the professor's condition. We can't... we absolutely cannot lose the professor."

"Shing!" Silver metallic claws extended at that moment.

"Sorry, but I've never been a patient man. I'm in a hurry." Logan brandished his claws, glanced at the three, and turned toward the door.

He had already decided to act alone. Just as he opened the door, a figure eavesdropping against it stumbled unexpectedly into him.

"Yo!" Looking at Wolverine staring at him in surprise, Lu Yifang raised a hand in greeting and attempted to shake the big shot's claw as a sign of friendship.

"Who are you?" Logan's expression twisted oddly as he watched this young man try to fiddle with his claws.

"My name is Lu Yifang. I'm an outstanding student admitted here this year with excellent grades." Lu Yifang introduced himself.

"Yifang, why are you here?" Storm turned back, looking surprised.

"Professor X had an accident. You guys panicked and didn't secure the information properly, so word got out to some of the students." Lu Yifang shrugged as he explained, but his eyes kept drifting toward Professor X on the instruments.

"Looks pretty serious."

"Kid." Logan patted Lu Yifang on the shoulder.

"As a good, obedient student, this isn't where you should be. Right now, you should be in bed, saying goodnight to your roommate, and getting a good night's sleep."

"But it's not lights-out time yet." Lu Yifang shrugged, a smile on his face.

"Oh, is that so?" Logan glanced at the grinning Lu Yifang and tightened his grip on the boy's shoulder.

"Then let me tell you—lights-out time has changed." Logan exerted force with his hand, intending to drag Lu Yifang out.

"Hm!" Before he could take a step, Logan felt something off about the resistance.

Puzzled, he looked at Lu Yifang and pushed again, only to find that not only could he not drag the kid out, but the boy's figure hadn't even budged.

He had the illusion that this kid wasn't human but a boulder. His strength vanished like a mud ox sinking into the sea, completely ineffective.

And that was exactly the case. Lu Yifang had manipulated vectors, dispersing the force Logan used to drag him across the entire room. Unless Logan had the strength to lift the whole lab, he couldn't move Lu Yifang an inch.

"Yifang, we'll handle this. You should go back." Storm tried to mediate.

"Handle it? But it looks to me like you're all falling apart." Lu Yifang grabbed Logan's hand and, under the man's incredulous gaze, dragged him in front of Professor X.

"Then you should leave. Getting involved will only make things worse." Cyclops looked up, frowning.

"Oh? Even if I have a way to cure the professor?"

"What did you say? You can cure the professor?" Hearing this, Cyclops shot up and grabbed Lu Yifang excitedly.

The others also turned their gazes toward him, waiting for an explanation.

"Well, I already have some idea, but to be safe, tell me the cause of the professor's coma first." Under everyone's stare, Lu Yifang's expression remained unchanged.

"Let me explain." Jean stepped forward. She rarely went on missions, mostly handling internal affairs at the school.

"You've probably heard from others at school—the professor has a Cerebro device that amplifies his mental power, allowing him to search for mutants over a wide range. When Magneto took Rogue, the professor guessed his plan and urgently used Cerebro, but someone had tampered with it."

"Who?" Lu Yifang asked curiously.

"Mystique, Magneto's right hand. She can perfectly impersonate anyone. While we were focused on finding Rogue, she sneaked in." Jean pulled up a recording. In it, another Jean approached the Cerebro room.

Then, under everyone's watch, she crouched and transformed into Professor X, successfully fooling the security systems of the Cerebro chamber.

"Can you really cure the professor?" After explaining, Jean couldn't help asking again.

"Not a hundred percent, but I'm about eighty percent sure." Having confirmed the issue matched what he knew, Lu Yifang gave a cautious answer.

"My ability is special. It lets me perceive an energy-based world—I call it the Vector World. That's how I can detect the abnormality in the professor's brain." Lu Yifang gently pressed his hand to the professor's forehead and closed his eyes.

"The professor's mental power is immense. Because of the Cerebro malfunction, his mental energy went haywire when released. Right now, several powerful mental forces are clashing inside his brain—that's the root cause of his loss of consciousness. I can manipulate vectors to calm those conflicting forces."

Lu Yifang withdrew his hand and opened his eyes to look at everyone. "Of course, that's just my guess. Whether you want me to act is up to you."

Cyclops stared at the professor, falling silent. At that moment, Jean walked up to him and whispered in his ear, "Maybe we should let him try. The professor's condition is unclear—he might wake up tomorrow, or he might... never..."

Hearing Jean's words and recalling Professor X's high praise for Lu Yifang in the past, Cyclops gritted his teeth and finally nodded.

"Then let's begin. I'm just calming a few rampaging mental forces in the professor's brain—it's not a delicate operation. But since it's the brain, I'd like as few distractions as possible." Lu Yifang stated his request.

"Fine. I'll have everyone leave, but I have to stay here to prevent any accidents with the professor." Cyclops replied.

Looking at Cyclops's resolute expression, Lu Yifang finally nodded. "Alright."
