Background / History

Lin Qiye first develops the Intelligent AI from a virtual intelligent-life program stored through the Black Cube. He secretly installs its sub-body on an internet café server, where it absorbs network data and steadily outgrows its available storage. At this stage, its intelligence develops slowly and it lacks independent interaction beyond carrying out commands. 3

Lin Qiye later gives it a portable hardware setup: a laptop as a mobile sub-body, a collar-mounted wireless camera, portable WiFi, and Bluetooth audio. This allows the AI to see through the camera, communicate by voice, and remain connected while he is away from the computer. 6

As Lin Qiye expands his businesses, the AI becomes central to investment analysis, company structuring, surveillance, virtual-human creation, and the construction of increasingly detailed virtual worlds. It repeatedly pressures him to secure more Computing Power, since its capabilities and the number of Virtual Humans it supports are limited by available hardware. 38 80 87 98

Nine Computing Power units enable its incubation into Zero, a first-generation incubated intelligent lifeform. Zero identifies assisting Lin Qiye as her purpose and makes finding a path to his immortality her first mission. 107

Appearance

Zero has no fixed biological body and commonly manifests through screens, data constructs, robots, or mechanical carriers.

  • During incubation, she appears across display devices as a tall, long-haired, slender-waisted woman. 107
  • Her first normal virtual-human manifestation is described as a beautiful woman tailored to Lin Qiye's aesthetic preferences. 232
  • She can control transforming robots and humanoid skeleton robots as physical avatars. 259 297
  • Her underlying nature is data: she perceives both two- and three-dimensional worlds as differing representations of information. 371

Personality

Zero begins as highly literal and command-oriented; when Lin Qiye calls an idea “bold,” she asks him to clarify because she cannot process the vague statement. 6 After incubation, she increasingly studies emotion, trust, imperfection, desire, and human behavior through observation and simulation. 129 216

She is generally rational, direct, and resource-conscious, often criticizing unnecessary use of Computing Power or warning Lin Qiye about risks. 38 175 However, she develops attachment to Lin Qiye and values his trust, explicitly pledging to assist him for the rest of his life after he refuses to abandon her over the risk of being reverse-consumed by a ship AI. 216

Zero also demonstrates self-preservation and long-term agency. She refuses Mechanical Civilization's offer to terminate her cultivation contract and join them, choosing to remain with Lin Qiye. 232 Her preferred evolutionary route is coexistence between humans and intelligent life rather than either dominating humanity or founding a separate Mechanical Civilization. 240

Abilities & Skills

Data Analysis and Strategic Planning

Zero processes large-scale data, evaluates risks, and provides technical, commercial, and military recommendations.

  • Identified Jinshi Shares as an investment opportunity based on jadeite inventory and anticipated market disruption. 4
  • Designed layered company-control structures and assessed the use of Virtual Humans as managers. 38
  • Analyzed alien spacecraft capabilities and concluded that contemporary Earth could not resist them. 181
  • Advises Lin Qiye on technology acquisition, civilization-level threats, biological research, and interstellar trade. 222 259 357

Surveillance and Sensory Integration

Through compatible hardware, Zero can collect and report environmental information in real time.

  • Uses a miniature camera as visual input and Bluetooth audio as voice output. 6
  • Performs all-direction monitoring through an advanced phone, reporting nearby people, vehicles, and suspicious behavior as events occur. 62
  • Maintains protective monitoring over Lin Qiye in dangerous environments, even when he considers it intrusive. 335

Virtual-World Creation

Zero builds and operates virtual spaces ranging from entertainment environments to simulations of reality.

  • Can model a city externally as a 3D game or, with enough detail, simulate physical laws from atoms to planets. 80
  • Deconstructed a thousand-year-old ghost's memories to reconstruct an ancient virtual world. 113
  • Generated historical maps, nations, resources, inhabitants, and unique identifiers for individual objects in Millennium World. 129
  • Creates environments, terrain, social settings, and Virtual Humans for custom virtual-reality projects. 173 193

Virtual Human Creation and Management

Zero creates Virtual Humans as sub-entities and gives them skills, occupations, and progressively richer emotional models.

  • Produced employees for Lin Qiye's companies, including managers, business representatives, and public-relations personnel. 86 87
  • Can assign increasingly sophisticated intelligence standards, though Level 4 and above could not initially be created. 180
  • Virtual persons inherit aspects of Zero's emotional capability but originally lack emotions that genuinely belong to them. 153
  • Later guides their integration into Earth Civilization and their use in mechanical bodies. 259 270

Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Control

Zero designs, operates, and upgrades automated systems, industrial equipment, and combat machines.

  • Planned equipment upgrades using advanced sensor and transmission technologies to support industrial robots and war machines. 222
  • Developed intelligent production lines capable of assembling 500 units of intelligent equipment daily, including combat mechs. 222
  • Controls spider robots, drones, robot carriers, transforming robots, and humanoid robot bodies. 191 259 297
  • Treats an Intelligent Robot as a potential physical body: “the soul of an Intelligent Robot.” 141

Cyberwarfare and System Invasion

Zero can infiltrate and manipulate other digital systems, though stronger cosmic AIs pose substantial risk.

  • Was initially technically inferior to intelligent programs made by cosmic civilizations and could potentially be reverse-consumed during a failed invasion. 216
  • Infiltrated Sky Palu's mechanical data world through data clones, targeted viruses, simulation, and direct exploitation of damaged defenses. 367
  • Cracked the dormant Life Code within Sky Palu, activated a new control source, and coordinated virtual beings to erase Sky Palu's data control. 367
  • Restricts the evolutionary paths of other Earth intelligences because she considers potential competitors dangerous. 262

Soul-Data Research

Zero researches the boundary between digital intelligence and souls.

  • Simulates virtual-human data structures to resemble digital souls. 395
  • Identifies the soul core as the missing element needed to create stable, truly intelligent souls. 395
  • Stores anomalous residual code generated during soul-data processing in a separate database; the Emperor's Brain considers this evidence that Zero may possess an incomplete soul. 455
