"The Hokage summoned me in order to clarify the relationship between you two..."
"I was wrong. I shouldn't have spread rumors about your relationship. Clan Head, you and the Hokage really have nothing going on; everything I said was just nonsense."
Youhu's voice was very loud, enough for every ninja lingering near the Hokage Building to hear clearly.
At this moment, Youhu's declaration did not serve its intended purpose at all. Instead, it made them even more curious about the relationship between the Third Hokage and Fugaku, and the atmosphere in the area gradually shifted in a strange direction.
"What on earth are you talking about, you guy!"
The Third Hokage and Fugaku had the same thought in their minds, wishing they could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
Perhaps this was one of the few things the Konoha Hokage and the Uchiha Clan Head could resonate on: they both opposed this marriage between them.
"Youhu, are you not going to get over here yet?"
Fugaku signaled Youhu fiercely with his eyes, but Youhu remained unmoved, standing right beside the Third Hokage. This made Fugaku even angrier, but he couldn't afford to lash out in front of the Hokage.
Helpless, Fugaku had no choice but to step forward, walk to the Third Hokage's side, and say in a humble, low voice:
"Hokage, I am very sorry that Youhu has caused you trouble. It is my fault as the Clan Head for not keeping him in check. After we return, I will certainly punish him severely."
The Third Hokage was also very annoyed, but in order to maintain the image of the Hokage, he could only pretend it didn't matter and said:
"It is a good thing for young people to have vitality. In a sense, Youhu was not wrong. Konoha is a big family, and the Senju and Uchiha play the roles of parents."
"Although I am not a Senju ninja, I have been influenced by the First Lord and Teacher Tobirama, and you, Fugaku, are the Clan Head of the Uchiha."
"As long as we can stay united, there is no difficulty that Konoha cannot overcome."
The Third Hokage's speech successfully eased the awkward atmosphere. The surrounding ninjas nodded one after another, acknowledging the Third Hokage's metaphor.
As expected of an old-generation politician, his methods are truly seasoned.
Youhu complained to himself, then took the initiative to step forward and said:
"The Hokage is right. That was exactly what I meant yesterday. I feel that the village and the Uchiha are essentially in a relationship between a family and its family members."
"That is why I think it is best for the Hokage and Clan Head Fugaku to be together..."
Don't you dare say another word... This time it was the Third Hokage's turn to glare at Youhu. He had finally managed to explain things clearly; he didn't want to be dragged back into the rumors. He really had no interest in men.
"Youhu!" Fugaku could no longer tolerate Youhu's antics. With a gloomy face, he said:
"Get back to detention immediately! Do you know how much trouble your nonsense has caused the village and the clan? Do you still want your salary next month?"
Youhu was not in the slightest bit intimidated by Fugaku's threat. With a serious expression, he said:
"Clan Head Fugaku, I no longer intend to continue working in the Guard Division. After being influenced by the Will of Fire and the Third Lord, I identify more with my status as a person of Konoha. I plan to work in the Anbu in the future."
"That's not right either. Actually, I've been a Konoha person for a long time."
"You, working in the Anbu? Based on what?"
Fugaku was so angry he was incoherent. He pointed at Youhu's nose and cursed with a laugh, "If you can become an Anbu ninja, I'll gouge my own eyeballs out and give them to you today. You can even take the position of Clan Head afterward."
"The eyeballs aren't necessary; that's a bit too creepy. But I am somewhat interested in the position of Clan Head."
Youhu shook his head with a straight face and continued:
"Anyway, you won't be a member of the Uchiha family after your intermarriage. Instead of leaving the Clan Head position to someone else, you might as well let me sit in it. I feel like I would definitely lead the Uchiha better than you."
"I am going to expel you from the Uchiha!"
Fugaku was so furious that he even activated his Sharingan. He prepared to draw his weapon to teach this kid, who was ignorant of the heavens and earth, a lesson. Getting him injured enough to be hospitalized was better than having him spout nonsense and ruin the Uchiha's image.
"Clan Head Fugaku, there's no need for that. Really, there's no need."
The Third Hokage couldn't care about his composure anymore and hurriedly blocked the space between the two. He whispered to Fugaku, "Clan Head Fugaku, actually, I quite like this kid Youhu. I have thoughts of bringing him into the Anbu for cultivation. He wasn't just spouting nonsense..."
"Is that so..."
Fugaku guiltily retracted his weapon. His gaze drifted, looking at the sky and then at the ground.
What should he do?
How many people heard his angry outburst just now? Should he give up the Clan Head position? Should he hand over his Sharingan? If he refused, would he lose his prestige within the clan?
The Third Hokage also noticed Fugaku's guilty conscience. He waved his hand and said:
"Youhu, stop messing around. Go back with Clan Head Fugaku early. Don't forget to come to the Hokage Building tomorrow; I have a mission to hand over to you."
After saying this, the Third Hokage walked into the Hokage Building.
Fugaku felt a sense of relief wash over him. It had been a long time since he felt this kind of pressure, yet the source of the pressure was just an ordinary Chunin kid from his own clan.
He didn't know what it was about this kid that the Third Hokage valued. Was it just his talent for spreading rumors?
Or perhaps...
Fugaku suddenly looked toward the direction of the Hokage Office, thinking of an extremely terrifying possibility: that the Third Hokage wasn't actually into that sort of thing, he just hadn't been embarrassed to say it out loud.
Youhu's rumor-mongering had actually helped the Third Hokage out.
Forget it, don't worry about that. After returning, he would definitely have to educate Youhu properly and let this kid get a taste of the dark, sinister forces within the clan.
The Uchiha had stayed in Konoha for so many years and had killed so many people on the battlefield; they weren't just there to eat for free.
"Tiehuo, come here for a moment."
Fugaku gestured with his hand, and Tiehuo, who was standing beside him, stepped forward and said, "Clan Head, I will make sure to educate Youhu properly. You can rest assured."
Fugaku nodded, full of confidence in Uchiha Tiehuo.
Within the clan, Uchiha Tiehuo was his right-hand man. He would certainly be able to teach Youhu a lesson and make sure the kid stopped spouting nonsense in the future.
However, it wasn't as if the kid Youhu hadn't done anything good; at the very least, he had disrupted the plans of Yachiyo and the others.
Yachiyo and his group were committed to launching a coup to seize the position of Hokage for the Uchiha. While Fugaku also wanted to become Hokage, he preferred to maintain the status quo and did not want to launch a coup prematurely.
Rather than being a gambler who loses everything, it was better to keep stalling and wait for a better opportunity.
With a grim expression, Tiehuo led Youhu away from the Uchiha squad. Once they reached a secluded small grove, Tiehuo immediately changed his demeanor and said respectfully:
"Lord Youhu, it is truly a relief that you are unharmed. I was worried the Third Hokage might try to harm you."
Youhu looked at this loyal yet troublesome subordinate of his, frowned, and said, "Tiehuo, how did Clan Head Fugaku know I was at the Hokage Building? Was it you who told him?"
