Shark Pirates

"The Shark Pirates are a bit different. I originally thought they came from Fishman Island to make a living, but I didn't expect them to actually be heading to the East Blue."

"The East Blue? Captain, are we still pursuing?" Sairona deferred the decision to Rono.

"Pursue, of course, why wouldn't we?" Rono immediately decided. A pirate crew that could distract them had just appeared, and he couldn't let it go to waste.

"Gelu!" Gelu indicated he wanted to pursue too.

"Alright, I've brought their latest intel. Also, the other two pirate crews have joined our affiliated pirate crews, so let's not bother with them." Hill was a young man with short blonde hair and glasses. As an outer family member with no talent for cultivation, he came to help Rono manage Baroque Works. His current dream was to run a pirate empire on the Grand Line. Since Rono and the others didn't really manage things, Hill held significant power.

"Then forget it. They'll be family from now on." Rono was indifferent. He still had plenty of time to deal with pirates, and he wasn't short of a few crews.

Hill breathed a sigh of relief. If Rono insisted on killing them, he wouldn't have been able to do anything.

"Let's set off quickly." After looking at the information, Sairona realized the Shark Pirates were almost at the Calm Belt and would likely head to the East Blue soon.

"Mhm, mhm." Rono picked up his luggage again, ready to depart.

"Yesterday, I rejected the King's offer. The King decided to trade three Express Ducks for our five million Belly. I agreed."

"Why so expensive?" Sairona asked.

"Because they can reproduce," Hill said with a smile.

"Then it's not expensive." Sairona understood.

The Express Ducks were indeed fast. In just one hour, the three of them returned to the dock where they had left their ship. Their ship was being watched by someone, and with the conspicuous Red Devil Pirates flag on it, no one foolish enough would dare to steal it.

"Then we're leaving." Rono said to the person watching the ship who had just finished tying up the Express Ducks. The watcher nodded in understanding.

"Vroom—" The Red Devil set sail, cutting through the waves towards the Shark Pirates.

At the Shark Pirates' location, a group of fish-men were having a feast. Their captain, the Hammerhead Shark Fishman Brandt Hyde, watched the fish-men drinking on the deck and playing around the ship. He thought of Arlong's invitation from the Arlong Pirates: good food, good drink, a palace to live in, and humans as slaves. Thinking of this, Brandt Hyde chuckled.

They were already very close to the Calm Belt, only about ten nautical miles away. They should reach it by tomorrow. Unlike humans, Sea Kings generally wouldn't prey on fish-men. The Calm Belt wasn't dangerous for fish-men.

"Captain, a pirate ship is approaching," a Swordfish Fishman climbed onto the ship from the water. Brandt Hyde smiled. It was just a pirate crew, wasn't it? How could those low-class humans possibly defeat noble fish-men?

"It's the Red Devil Pirates! The Red Devil himself has come!" the Swordfish Fishman said with some anxiety. That was someone with the same title as the strongest fish-man, Jinbe. Their Shark Pirates couldn't possibly defeat him.

"Set sail! Everyone on board! We're entering the Calm Belt today, the Red Devil is chasing us!" Brandt Hyde's pupils contracted, and he hurriedly gave the order. He wasn't referring to the Red Devil Pirates, but the Red Devil himself!

The fish-men scrambled back onto the ship, and the pirate ship immediately set sail. Ten fish-men took turns rowing non-stop, increasing the ship's speed by a notch.

"Whoosh—Bang!" A cannonball landed in the sea next to the pirate ship. The fish-men lost their bearing and their speed decreased.

"Buzz—" A dark red small boat charged towards them at nearly three times their speed.

"Fire, fire!" Brandt Hyde roared. Bang bang bang, three cannonballs were fired, but none touched the Red Devil. Under the control of the old driver Rono, the Red Devil successfully passed the firing zone, its ramming horn hitting the keel of the Shark Pirates' ship. The sturdy ramming horn easily broke the keel and, with undiminished momentum, sailed to the other side of the ship.

With the keel severely damaged, the ship could no longer move.

"Fight them to the death!" Brandt Hyde led the charge, leaping off the ship. The sea was their home ground; even if they were outmatched, they could escape.

"Sigh! How is Gelu supposed to train like this?" Rono grumbled.

"Gelu." Gelu was also depressed.

Just then, a Fishman leaped out of the water and attacked Rono. He saw Rono was distracted and intended to sneak attack. In his imagination, even a Shichibukai couldn't be as formidable as Jinbe. Since it was a sneak attack, if his tenfold-strength wrist could hit a vital spot... The Fishman's mouth split into a grin. Let killing a Shichibukai be the first step towards Fishman world domination.

Rono's Observation Haki had already detected him. He sidestepped the punch, his Bone Claws extended, pu chi, a chilling sensation, a soaring heart. The Fishman's eyes widened in death, unable to rest. He casually tossed the corpse aside, leaped onto the Shark Pirates' ship, activated his Bone Planting Armor, and began a massacre. Seeing the Fishmen who hadn't managed to dive into the water being slaughtered by Rono, Brandt Hyde let out a tragic howl and leaped out of the water.

"Bang—" His head shattered like a watermelon. Sairona wasn't looking at him, aiming his gun at another Fishman. Bang bang bang, three died. The Fishman pirate ship, once dozens strong, was left with only a handful of survivors. Rono didn't pursue; he couldn't catch them, as they had already dived dozens of meters deep.

"Forget it, the pirate crew is destroyed, and the captain is dead. Let's go after Ace," Sairona said, watching the retreating Fishmen as he retracted his sniper rifle. He felt his shooting speed had increased, and his Dynamic Vision had also improved. This was likely the work of a Devil Fruit.

"Rono, has my shooting speed gotten faster?" Sairona asked, looking at Rono.

"How should I know?" Rono rolled his eyes. BangRono dodged a surprise attack, staring at Sairona for a long time, trying to find a hint of guilt on his face, but that was impossible.

"It has gotten faster," Rono finally conceded.

"Let's go," Sairona said, satisfied, retracting his gun and heading to the bathroom to shower.

"Buzz—" The old driver Rono steered the red Red Devil at full speed. Terror Triangle Sail? Ace really knew how to pick a place.

Far away at Terror Triangle Sail, Ace looked at his crew. "Raise your hands in agreement, majority rules, 3, 2, 1!" Swish swish swish, only one person didn't raise their hand.

"Yosh, let's have a haunted house adventure!" Ace revealed his pearly white teeth. "Let's have a feast!"

"Oh!" everyone responded. The one who didn't raise their hand did too.

The Spade Pirates headed towards Terror Triangle Sail.

Meanwhile, Rono was teaching Gelu to speak. Sairona watched the two, feeling a sense of happiness. Perhaps this was family? Having been an orphan who grew up eating from many households, Sairona had never experienced the feeling of family.

Rono would occasionally shout, and occasionally correct Gelu's pronunciation. "Wo—er—fu—lu," Rono slowed down his pronunciation. Gelu repeated with difficulty, "Wo—Ge—lu—lu." Well, the last two words were spoken with perfect clarity.

Suddenly, Rono looked at Sairona. "Sairona, what's your surname? I don't think I've ever heard you mention it."

"I don't have a surname. The name was given to me by a big mama who was commemorating her dead son." Sairona's face darkened. Nima, you're only finding out now? I've been living with you for two years.
