Jeff checked his weapons again, making sure they wouldn't let him down at a critical moment.
Axia closed her eyes and infused Jeff's gun with the stored fortune. There wasn't enough fortune to envelop Jeff entirely, so she had to settle for that.
Rono was eating some high-calorie dried meat.
Mo slapped him. After taking the hit, Rono obediently finished the strip in his hand and didn't reach for anything else.
"Move out!" Mo covered himself with Observation Haki, and the others did the same. It was one way to use Observation Haki: lowering your own presence, much like increasing an enemy's presence when locking onto them.
In the study, Solomon's eyes snapped open. He'd been feigning sleep. "They're here. Qiao, go make preparations. Don't let them get away alive."
"Yes." A shadow replied, then vanished in an instant. Everyone thought Number Two, Noah, had no Successor. In truth, the Atalia Family had hidden his existence. Enemies lurking in the darkness were far more dangerous than those in plain sight.
"Isaiah, you should go too. I don't need anyone protecting me here." Solomon nodded to a long-haired man with a ponytail.
The man said nothing, nodded, and left the study.
"Hoo..." Rono let out a breath. Why was this so easy? Weren't they supposed to be discovered and forced into a head-on fight?
Fortunately, Mo didn't know what he was thinking. Otherwise, he might have killed him first.
The group felt their way through a dim corridor. Apart from their breathing, there wasn't another sound. At first, Mo thought it was because of Axia's ability, but as time passed, he began to sense something was wrong. "We're being ambushed!" Mo whispered, but his voice carried clearly through the empty corridor.
"Bang! Ka-ka-ka..." Mechanical gears whirred. Two heavy metal doors
