Itachi glanced at Deidara. Something about him had seemed off from the start.
According to Liao Wu, he was an ancient Uchiha who had recently traveled to the present through the Dragon Vein.
Then he should have had nothing to do with Deidara!
So why was Deidara so loyal to Liao Wu?
Itachi suspected Deidara was different from the rest of them. Liao Wu had him under an Illusion Technique.
Deidara called out to Itachi, "And then? And then? Did Shisui Uchiha use Kotoamatsukami to control Leaf Village's leaders?"
Itachi shook his head. "Shisui never intended to use Kotoamatsukami on the village's leaders. He wanted to control my father and stop him from leading the Uchiha Coup."
"What?!"
Deidara looked utterly baffled, as if he had watched someone take a winning hand and play it so badly that he lost.
"With a Dojutsu that useful, why would he control an Uchiha instead of Leaf Village's leaders? What was that Shisui guy thinking?"
Orochimaru sneered. "I heard Body Flicker Shisui later killed himself. I imagine he was naive enough to tell Leaf Village's leaders that his Sharingan had awakened into a Mangekyo."
"And that he would use Kotoamatsukami to stop the Uchiha Coup. Isn't that right, Itachi?"
Itachi nodded. "Root Members attacked Shisui. Danzo took one of his eyes, and Shisui was poisoned by an Aburame Clan insect. There was no cure, so he jumped off a cliff."
"Heh, heh..."
Orochimaru laughed mockingly. "He really was a child! To trust my teacher and Danzo, a man who embraces the darkness, so blindly."
"Danzo inherited Senju Tobirama's hard-line views. He always wanted to take drastic action against the Uchiha Clan."
"The plans for the Uchiha Coup gave him his chance. He was eager for the Uchiha to overestimate themselves and rebel."
