Ling Chu stood off to the side with her arms folded, watching for a long while. She realized that appealing to someone like him to have a conscience was pointless.
"Oh, there's something I forgot to tell you."
Ling Chu said leisurely to Lucas, "Those Elven Stone Slabs you finally got your hands on after all these years of murder, arson, and betraying your brothers-they're all fake."
The smile froze on Lucas's face. "Impossible."
"What do you know? You don't even know where the Elven Stone Slabs came from-"
"After Hans learned how valuable the Elven Stone Slabs were, he made several copies of the genuine one, intending to sell them to passing caravans. The one you later sneaked into the inn and stole was a fake he kept in his bedroom."
"The real Slab No. 4 was hidden in the inn's cellar all along."
"You slaughtered all of White Gull Town, and in the end, all you took away was a fake."
A muscle twitched in Lucas's face.
"And that cave Titch and the others found-you took a slab from the stone platform outside, didn't you? That was fake too. The real Slab No. 7 was in a secret chamber behind the wall. You had to solve the mechanism using the five dragons on the stone wall to get inside."
"You killed everyone aboard the Wine Barrel, then made Philip take you there, but you never even opened the door to the chamber where the real thing was hidden."
Lucas's expression began to twist.
"Oh, and the slab you stole from Adrian, the City Lord of Bright City, was fake too. He deliberately put out word of the huge bounty on your head just to make everyone else think he no longer had the real one..."
