Background

Ling Chu begins her survival journey alone on a raft. In a wine barrel, she discovers the remains and equipment of Captain Teach, including a legendary ring that grants her the Ghost Pirate profession. Rather than fearing the skeleton, she treats its equipment and bones as useful resources. 3

After raising her Intelligence to 10 with a Mysterious Fruit, Ling Chu uses Bone Revival to resurrect the skeleton Tichy, who becomes her first loyal Skeleton Henchman. She immediately puts him to work mining, scouting, maintaining crops, and managing fishing nets. 8 9 20

She later becomes the first player to hold both Ghost Pirate and Bounty Hunter professions. This allows her to earn from killing ordinary players as a pirate and from killing wanted players as a bounty hunter, a combination she considers advantageous for pursuing both “righteous” and “unrighteous” paths. 7

Ling Chu upgrades her raft into a Ghost Pirate vessel and eventually establishes the Ghost Ship as an increasingly large, undead-crewed flagship. Though publicly known as a ruthless pirate, Ling Chu follows personal principles. Ling Chu fakes her death to survive Mortus's attempt to seize her soul, steals the Death God's Scythe with Pirate is More of a Bandit, and ultimately defeats Mortus's consciousness incarnation. After the Public Challenge, Ling Chu forms Death Pacts with 485 Circus members to gain Divine Power. Rather than massacre those who surrender without fighting her, she disbands their fleet, dismantles their Level 6 ship, and builds them a replacement Level 4 ship for their departure. 735

Before the settlement, she discovers that the Circus has transferred Smiley's three islands to its new captain, When It's Dark, Close Your Eyes. She orders an Island Raid Card used against him, and the Circus vessel raises a white flag as the Ghost Ship prepares to attack. 733

He transforms into a scaled, clawed figure with a powerful fish tail and attacks Ling Chu with water-coated blades. With Ghostly Steps unavailable, she conserves Omni Reset and prepares to withstand the strike through Bone Armor, Water-Scale Armor, and four layers of Ice Armor supplied by her Skeleton Mages.
