500 meters.
300 meters.
200 meters.
The Jackalmen drew closer to the valley, and the players tightened their grips on their weapons, readying themselves for battle.
More than a dozen players nocked arrows, waiting for the Jackalmen to enter range so they could fire off a volley.
Even if they missed, they could still scare them!
As Lin Feng watched the Jackalmen approach, he suddenly felt grateful to their leader, a Jackalman he had never even met.
What a good guy!
First, he'd sent thirteen Jackalmen to deliver experience and gear. Now he was sending thirty more, perfectly matched to the Starry Tribe's strength.
Thirty Jackalmen was just right for the Starry Tribe as it stood.
Any more, and they couldn't handle them. Any fewer, and the fight wouldn't be satisfying.
Once they finished off these thirty, the remaining Jackalmen wouldn't be a threat to them anymore.
He'd picked the perfect number!
Just think: if more than fifty Jackalmen had come this time, could Lin Feng still have stood his ground like this?
He'd have run for his life long ago!
He had no idea what would happen if the valley's respawn point were captured. Would the game shut down for good?
As he pondered this, the Jackalmen had already come within a hundred meters.
Bear Hunter looked at the more than twenty humans standing at the valley entrance and broke into a savage grin.
With so few of them, they actually dared to form ranks and face the Jackalmen head-on?
They were completely out of their depth!
"Charge! Tear them all apart!"
Bear Hunter waved his hand, and the Jackalmen behind him let out a chorus of excited howls as they charged at the players, swinging their Wolf Tooth Clubs.
He strolled along behind them at an easy pace.
There were so few humans that his underlings could probably take care of them all without him lifting a finger.
Wind Wolf had returned to his Jackalman form. Standing beside Bear Hunter, he craned his neck to study the humans at the valley entrance.
He was curious, too. Where had these humans gotten the nerve to face them head-on?
"Fire!"
At Lin Feng's command, the dozen or so players beside him loosed their arrows.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...
Arrow after arrow flew toward the charging Jackalmen.
Lin Feng hadn't expected the players' bows to accomplish much. Whatever they hit was a bonus. If they hit one, they'd come out ahead; if they missed every shot, they'd lost nothing.
As it turned out, the players' archery had improved over the past few days.
They loosed more than a dozen arrows and actually landed three!
One of them struck a Jackalman straight in the throat, killing him instantly!
Lin Feng glanced at the players beside him in surprise. He couldn't tell whether that shot had been luck or a sign of real skill.
"Haha, that was me! I hit him! Did you see that? Straight through the throat!"
Liubai Dianmo raised his bow and shouted excitedly.
He liked bows and arrows, and not only could he make them, he was pretty good at shooting, too.
He played with them often in real life, so he had a much better foundation than the other players.
Take that shot just now. He'd actually been aiming at another Jackalman nearby, but the result had been great.
He'd shot a running Jackalman through the throat from dozens of meters away. Who else could do that?
That shot would give him bragging rights for a whole year!
A hundred meters wasn't far for Jackalmen sprinting at full speed.
The players only had time to loose one arrow before the Jackalmen were upon them.
"Kill!"
Lin Feng roared, raised his wooden club, and charged forward at the head of the group.
The players grabbed their melee weapons and followed behind Lin Feng, slamming into the oncoming Jackalmen.
The sounds of battle rang through the valley.
Blood Hand charged into the valley with his clansmen, unable to keep the bloodthirsty grin from spreading across his face.
During the charge, the humans had fired a volley of arrows. One had struck his left arm.
The sharp pain didn't make him falter. It only roused his ferocity and made him even more excited!
He would show these humans how foolish it was to provoke the mighty Jackalmen.
He had never taken humans seriously.
To him, they were nothing but a weak race.
The last time they raided a human tribe, he had killed three humans all by himself!
The look of terror on their faces when they saw him had filled him with a strange sense of satisfaction.
This time, he would savor that fear!
He charged straight at the humans ahead, but the closer he got, the more something felt wrong.
He didn't see the familiar fear on their faces.
Instead, they looked strangely excited.
Excited?
Was that how humans were supposed to look when they saw powerful Jackalmen?
As he wondered about this, a human came charging toward him with a loud yell.
With no time to think, he swung his Wolf Tooth Club at the oncoming human.
The weapon in the human's hands was also a Wolf Tooth Club, and its design made it clear that it had been made by Jackalmen.
No doubt about it. These humans had killed Suihou's squad and stolen their weapons!
You despicable humans! I'll make you pay for this in blood!
With a furious roar, the two Wolf Tooth Clubs clashed.
Blood Hand sneered to himself. With their feeble human strength, they actually thought they could take him head-on?
They were asking to die!
The clubs slammed together with a bang.
A tremendous force jolted Blood Hand's hand. His Wolf Tooth Club bounced back, nearly slipping from his grasp!
He stared at the human in shock. This human was actually stronger than him?
How was that possible?
"Haha! Again!"
The player facing Blood Hand was After Three Rounds of Drinks, who had already reached level four.
As a level-four Strength Class player, his Strength Value was a whopping fifteen points!
An ordinary Jackalman's Strength Value was only around ten.
He completely outclassed them.
After Three Rounds of Drinks knocked Blood Hand's Wolf Tooth Club back with one swing, then immediately swung again.
Blood Hand was horrified. Ignoring the pain in his hand, he hurriedly raised his club to block.
With another bang, the Wolf Tooth Club flew right out of his hands.
The next second, the massive club came crashing toward his head.
The fear of death washed over him. All his courage vanished, and he begged in terror.
"Spare me! Spare me!"
But the human in front of him seemed not to hear a word. His Wolf Tooth Club didn't slow for an instant and smashed straight into Blood Hand's head.
With a wet splat, blood sprayed and brains flew.
After smashing Blood Hand's skull with one blow, After Three Rounds of Drinks scratched his head.
What had that Jackalman been yelling just now?
Whatever. He couldn't understand him anyway!
He hefted his Wolf Tooth Club and charged toward the next Jackalman.
Killing that Jackalman had earned him fifty experience points! He needed to take down a few more before the others stole all the kills!
Bear Hunter strolled along leisurely, carrying a Wolf Tooth Club.
Like Bear Hunter himself, his club was thicker and longer than an ordinary Jackalman's, and looked full of power.
He wasn't in any hurry to join the fight.
There were only a little over twenty humans at the valley entrance. His thirty Jackalmen would need just a few minutes to break them.
There was no need for him to get involved.
He only had to walk over at his leisure and decide what to do with the human prisoners who begged for mercy.
Kill them, or take them back to the tribe as slaves?
"Bear Hunter, something's off about these humans!"
Just then, Wind Wolf spoke beside him, his voice tense.
"Off?"
Bear Hunter paused.
"Look for yourself!"
Wind Wolf, already back in his Jackalman form, pointed at the melee.
Bear Hunter had been thinking about what to do with the human prisoners and hadn't been paying close attention to the battle. At Wind Wolf's words, his gaze sharpened, and he studied the fight carefully.
Then his eyes grew wider and wider.
