Trunks said to Son Goten, "You're right. They're the Red Ribbon Army. Although you wiped out the army long ago, Dr. Gero survived and continued his research."
"What's their goal? The same as before? To conquer the world?" Trunks wasn't entirely sure either. "I don't know for certain, but that's probably what Dr. Gero has in mind."
"Dr. Gero originally wanted to turn the androids into ultimate killing machines, but he died at the hands of his own creations. In other words, the androids are terrorists who take pleasure in killing and destruction."
Son Goten thought for a moment. "You're a Super Saiyan who took out Frieza and the others in an instant, yet you call them monsters. They must be incredibly strong!"
Trunks lowered his head. "I fought back, but unfortunately... there were two of them. One-on-one, I could barely even escape."
Hearing this, Son Goten cut him off. "Wait, you said there were two enemies. What happened to your allies?"
Trunks sighed. "There aren't any. I'm the only warrior left in the world twenty years from now. In the fighting back then, Dad, Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo were all killed!"
"Son Gohan was lucky enough to survive, and he became my mentor. But four years ago, he too... When Piccolo died, the Dragon Balls disappeared, so no one could be brought back to life. Those androids were terrifying—they killed them one after another."
Son Goten hadn't heard his own name mentioned, so he couldn't help asking Trunks, "Um, what happened to me? Was I killed too?" "You didn't take part in the fighting. Not long afterward, you came down with a serious illness and died."
Son Goten was stunned by what Trunks had told him, and Piccolo, standing nearby, suddenly perked up as well.
