Mr. Popo comforted Goku. "Goku, Chen is right. Even if we went now, we couldn't beat Cell. We'd only be sacrificing ourselves for nothing." But Goku was stubborn. "Mr. Popo, even so! That's still better than staying here and letting them die without helping!"
So Mr. Popo said to Goku, "You Saiyans are the only hope this world has of defeating Cell. If you waste your precious lives, Kami... No, even Piccolo would be furious."
Goku was stubborn, but he understood. Then Mr. Popo pointed at Chen. "Look!" Goku gradually realized what he meant. Chen was furious, desperate for Vegeta and the others to come out.
There was nothing Chen could do about the situation. Even if he went down and fought them now, it wouldn't help. All he could do was place his hopes in Vegeta.
Cell looked at No. 17. "Sorry to keep you waiting! Give up this pointless resistance. You're going to be absorbed by me anyway, so you don't need to suffer anymore." As he spoke, he walked toward No. 17, then looked back at No. 18. "You'll belong to me soon, too!"
This crisis was truly historic. People from different spaces had come from different worlds, and Cell had arrived here from the future, in Era A. Faced with overwhelming power, how would the androids fight back?
Although Piccolo resisted with all his might, it made no difference. He was utterly defeated. Then Cell began attacking No. 17. No. 17 wasn't afraid of him at all. "You can call it pointless resistance all you want, but I'm not that easy to take down."
No. 17 charged at Cell, leaping high into the air and bringing himself crashing down on him. "You damn monster!" But when he landed, he realized he hadn't hit Cell at all.
