Goku was feeling awful. This was his first time experiencing such intense pressure, and even his body couldn't take it. Chen looked at him. "How is it? Pretty intense, right? This is your first time doing gravity training, isn't it? You'll get used to it soon."
"First, you have to become a Super Saiyan, Goku. I know you can do it. You just haven't brought out the potential inside you yet."
"Back on Planet Namek, the Grand Elder helped bring out some of my potential. But there was so much inside me that he couldn't draw it all out. He said some things were for me to discover on my own!"
"Even the Grand Elder had a hard time bringing it all out. I think I should be able to become a Super Saiyan too. If you can do it, Chen, then I can too. As a pure-blooded Saiyan, there's no way I could be weaker than them."
Chen looked at Goku. "Saiyan blood runs through your veins. You inherited their bloodline. In any case, you have to become a Super Saiyan. That's when your real training begins."
"But I'll get in the way of your training!" Goku thought. But Chen knew that increasing their overall strength was important. Besides, he believed Goku's Saiyan fighting potential was anything but ordinary.
"It might be like that at first, but once you become a Super Saiyan, we'll be able to train by fighting each other. It'll help a lot. You're my best friend, Goku. I believe in you. You can do it."
"Of course, I want to surpass the limits of the Super Saiyan and become the strongest in the universe. But, Goku, I want you to surpass me even more!" Chen's words caught Goku completely by surprise. "I... surpass you?"
