As soon as the words left his mouth, a wave of whispers swept across the crowd. Hyuga Hito was the youngest genius in the Hyuga Clan, and he was every bit as good as the clan heir, Hyuga Hiashi. He was leagues beyond Hyuga Mahya, the man Uchiha Chen had killed earlier.
There were differences even among Elite Jonin. Some, held back by various limitations, couldn't advance to the level of a pseudo-Kage. But in terms of strength, they were no weaker than pseudo-Kage fighters.
Take Yūhi Kurenai in the future, for example. A genjutsu specialist and Elite Jonin, she couldn't advance to pseudo-Kage because of her taijutsu. But who would dare say she was weaker than a pseudo-Kage? On the battlefield, in fact, Kurenai could be more lethal than those so-called pseudo-Kage fighters.
Hyuga Hito and Hyuga Hiashi were also on par with pseudo-Kage fighters. They simply hadn't advanced to that level because their chakra reserves, owing to their age, were still lower than those of the older pseudo-Kage. Hyuga Mahya, by contrast, had only just scraped into the ranks of the Elite Jonin, and wasn't particularly strong. Hito, on the other hand, was all but assured a place among the Hyuga elders, so long as he survived.
The difference between the two was like night and day.
While the crowd was still reeling, a large group emerged from the Hyuga Clan's back courtyard.
"What's going on?" The middle-aged man at the head of the group had barely stepped outside when the scene before him left him irritated. He barked, "What's the meaning of this crowd?"
Hearing someone speak behind them, everyone turned around. When they saw their clan leader, they hurriedly stepped aside and cleared a path.
"Clan leader!"
Hyuga Tokuzo, the clan leader, nodded and walked through
