Hanzo's eyes were filled with hostility. As soon as he finished speaking, he swept out his hand, and over a hundred ninja leaped down from the mountains behind the cliff. Judging by their headbands, there were few Amegakure ninja among them; most were members of the Assassination Squad loyal to Hanzo of the Salamander.
After all, Yahiko and the others had done so much in the Land of Rain. If the civilian ninja found out, they would surely resent them, perhaps even driving them into the ranks of the Akatsuki Organization.
To prevent that from happening, Hanzo had no choice but to bring along his own loyal followers and join forces with Kirigakure's Assassination Squad to surround and kill Yahiko and the others.
"You're all going to die here today!" Hanzo gave a sinister laugh and roared at them in a low voice.
Since Konan had warned them beforehand, Yahiko and Nagato were mentally prepared and didn't seem especially panicked. Yahiko looked at Hanzo with deep disappointment and shouted angrily, "Lord Hanzo, why are you doing this? Weren't we supposed to discuss an alliance today?"
"You have only yourselves to blame. You got in the way of my rule."
"Why waste time talking to them? Get on with it," a masked Mist Ninja urged coldly, unable to stomach Hanzo's smug expression.
Hanzo of the Salamander felt a little displeased. It was true that he had contacted Hozuki Zenzō, an elder of Kirigakure, to send reinforcements. But he was Half-God Hanzō, a mighty warrior who had dominated the Second Shinobi World War and single-handedly suppressed the Konoha Sannin. He had been hailed as the one who came closest to the God of Shinobi since Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju.
And now a mere member of Kirigakure's Anbu dared to give him
