A Spur-of-the-Moment Decision

Konan had no idea who the person was, and she didn't even know who held a grudge against her. Simply observing them wasn't enough to figure it out.

It left Konan feeling awful. They'd already done everything they could, so why were there still people who refused to trust them?

Without paying any attention to what Konan might be thinking inside, Uchiha Chen strode ahead after killing the three people behind the door without a scratch. He pushed open the door, which had been barred from the inside, and stepped in.

Behind him, Yahiko and Nagato gazed at Uchiha Chen with admiration.

They'd been watching Uchiha Chen's strength from the very beginning. With a single move, he'd annihilated every enemy who'd come after them. With another, he'd severed Sengetsu Taki's head. And with one decisive strike, he'd defeated the demigod who'd loomed so large in their hearts, Half-God Hanzō.

Now, with nothing more than a light tap of his finger, he'd killed all their enemies.

The two boys, who dreamed of becoming heroes, couldn't help longing for strength like his. If only I could be that strong! they thought.

Once he'd entered the room, Uchiha Chen turned sideways and nodded toward the three of them. "Konan's over there. Go to her yourselves."

Then he stepped back, leaving them alone to reunite with their friend.

Konan hesitated. A complicated look flickered across her face, then she let out a soft sigh and followed Uchiha Chen out.

"Uchiha Chen!"

"What is it?" He turned around with a smile. "Why aren't you going inside?"

Although Uchiha Chen was merciless toward his enemies and always put on a cold front, he actually treated his subordinates very well.
