Only now did Miroku truly believe that Uchiha Chen had the ability and strength to pull her out of the abyss.
If Uchiha Chen had given her only a glimmer of hope before, now Chen had become her greatest hope.
"If that's true, then that's wonderful!" Miroku's eyes shone with unconcealed joy. "Every time the Eight-Headed Serpent dies, his strength diminishes. Likewise, the cost of sealing him will be considerably lower."
If they could kill the Eight-Headed Serpent a few more times, Miroku wouldn't need to prepare such a complicated seal at all. A simple seal would suffice; she might even be able to do it by merely modifying the seal her mother had placed.
Uchiha Chen raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected things to work out this way. He'd only meant to keep the Eight-Headed Serpent confined to the valley, but the serpent had found the humiliation unbearable and blown himself up. What Chen hadn't expected was that the Eight-Headed Serpent could actually be reborn.
From Miroku's tone, it seemed that each time the Eight-Headed Serpent was reborn, the power within him weakened.
"So, if I make the Eight-Headed Serpent blow himself up a few more times, the cost of sealing him will be negligible, right?"
"Exactly." Miroku nodded, unable to hide her excitement. If they could seal the Eight-Headed Serpent completely this time, then although the shrine maiden clan wouldn't be free of its fated entanglement for good, at least they wouldn't need to worry about the Eight-Headed Serpent breaking free for a hundred years.
That meant they wouldn't have to worry about the Eight-Headed Serpent's threat for at least three generations. As for what came after a hundred years, they would only need to reinforce the seal to keep it intact.
Thinking this, Miroku couldn't hide her
