Everyone gasped. Krillin had completely vanished right before their eyes. At first, they all thought he had been smashed to pieces, but then they realized it was only an afterimage. The air around them grew strangely still, and then came the sound of terrifying footsteps.
The clatter of rapid footsteps kept pounding against their eardrums.
Krillin was moving so fast that his body seemed to disappear. It seemed that technique alone wouldn't work against Piccolo. Krillin was agile and could use his speed to conceal his attacks, but that guy Piccolo wasn't afraid of any of that. He had wide-ranging attacks of his own, and they were no less formidable.
After a stretch of terrifyingly fierce movement, Krillin suddenly appeared. No one had noticed that an Energy Ball had appeared in his hand. But the moment he showed himself, Piccolo's palm pierced straight through his chest. It was useless all the same—Krillin vanished again.
His use of the Afterimage Fist had reached perfection.
Everyone in this world had their own special strengths. Some were highly skilled in energy-blast attacks, such as the Turtle School's Kamehameha.
In other words, some people were naturally suited to extreme clashes of energy. Others didn't know much about their own energy, but excelled at hand-to-hand combat. And then there were those who were incredibly agile, fighting with their nimble bodies. Krillin belonged to the last group.
Moving at incredible speed, he held a ball of light in his hand. It grew larger and larger, until its radiance spilled across the entire ring. The place became blindingly bright, illuminating everything.
No one could calm down amid such astonishing, dazzling brilliance. It felt as if everything around them had been swept up in it, and that not a single moment could pass without the light surging onward.
